1. Teacher will prepare set of words for the

learners to spell out.
2. Random learners will be called to spell the
word given by the teacher.
3. Learners will be given 30 seconds to spell the
words:
MONSOONS
BREEZES
HABAGAT
AMIHAN
ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA

Time allotment: 5 minutes

C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills # Explore INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY
1 Activity1:BREEZES
Directions: Compare the two pictures below. Spot the
differences and answer the questions below.

Questions:
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills # 1. During daytime, over which area is the air
2 warmer? Cooler?
2. How does the warm air over the land move?
3. To which direction does the wind blow during
daytime? Sea to land or land to sea?
4. During night time, over which area is warmer?
Cooler?
5. To which direction does the wind blow during
night time?
Activity2:MONSOONS
Directions: Study the illustration below showing the air
pressure and directions of air in the different parts of
the world. High pressure areas are marked (H) and low
pressure areas (L) and answer the corresponding
questions.

Questions:
1. Observe the direction of winds in the low
pressure areas. Do winds blow towards the
low pressure area or away from it?
2. How about high pressure areas? Do winds
move towards the high pressure area or away
from it?
3. From what direction, do wind blow near the
Philippines in the month of January?
4. From what direction does the wind blow near
the Philippines in July?
Activity3: INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE
(ITCZ)
Directions: Look at the illustration below showing the
effect of the Earth’s shape on the amount of solar
energy an area receives and answer the questions
below.

1. Which area receives direct rays from the sun?

Equatorial region or areas of higher latitudes?
2. Which areas receive oblique/slanting rays
from the sun?
3. Which area would you expect to be warmer?
Cooler?
4. Which area would experience warm rising
air?
5. To what direction do the winds from higher
latitude places move?

F. Developing mastery Rationalization of answers based on the activity.

Discussion about breezes, monsoon, and intertropical

Explain convergence zone.

Time allotment: 20 minutes

G. Finding practical application of concepts and skills in Guide Questions:

daily living
1. In your opinion, why do you think
most people enjoy night swimming?
2. Why do farmers welcome more the
southwest monsoon?
Time allotment: 5 minutes

H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the

lesson
I. Evaluating learning Evaluate POST ASSESSMENT ACTIVITY:

TRUE OR FALSE
Directions: Write TRUE if the statement is correct and
FALSE if the statement is wrong.

1. Air moves towards a high pressure area and

away from a low pressure area.
2. A low pressure area creates a good/fair
weather.
3. Air movement occurs due to difference in
temperature and pressure.
4. The Philippines receives lesser amount of
solar energy than Japan.
5. Places located at the intertropical
convergence zone has a good weather.

Time allotment: 5 minutes

J. Additional activities for application or remediation Extend N/A
