2. What to see at home? Plan properly your working schedule.
3. How to see Chess at home and in class?
4. How much time should they prepare at home?
5. Motivating and encouraging - Self
6. Give space to make mistakes and learn (parents & coaches)
7. Do not criticise too much use positive words and language, be patient (parents &
coaches).
8. Opening middlegame and endgame importance (20:60:20)
9. Do not play defensively – be aggressive, take risks, experiment.
10. Do not play with bad pieces – improving pieces.

Common mistakes by young players:

 Calculation mistakes
 Poor time management (playing too fast or slow)
 Poor concentration
 Letting distractions get the better of them
 Don’t know how and on what areas to work at home
 Lack of hard work - laziness
 Too much (rarely too less) importance to learning openings
 Poor self-esteem as a result of comparing oneself to others constantly (less
opportunity, practice, bad result), lack of confidence
 Giving too much importance to result and rating
 Over or under estimation of opponent, based on his/her rating or past results
 Giving up easily in difficult positions
 Relaxing too much and becoming careless in good positions
 Defending passively
 Moving back pieces unnecessarily
 Moving same piece many times in early stage of the game without valid reason
 Accepting their shortcomings as permanent and not making effort to get better in
those areas
 Unwilling to change their bad habits, bad way of thinking, unreceptive to change
