Bad Channel Editor

General
This function is used to view and edit defective channel correction tables. The Bad Channel Editor allows you to label
detector channels for the detector lines as defective. Because the detector elements can contribute to different detector
lines for the different scan modes, a separate table is stored for each mode at the IRS/ICS (slice width).
Since we use the Multislice Detector, it is not sufficient to patch a channel only. 8 elements per channel used according to
the slice combination. As a result, you have to patch the bad channel in all slice combinations.
There are 2 methods to handle a bad channel:
1. Patch all 4 detector lines in all 5 slice combinations (= 20 inputs necessary).
2. Refer to the CB-Doc "Principle of Multislice Detector", determine the slice combination affected by the
defective element, but patch only what is necessary. Important: You need to know exactly which element in
which channel is bad.
· Select Local Service - Analyze .
· Select Load -> IRS -> Table Data -> Defective Channel Correction .
· Click Go to display a list for all slice combinations.
· Select a slice combination and click Go .
· Select Edit -> Bad Channels .
· Select the affected detector line (Volume Zoom/Sensation 4:4 , Volume Access:2 available).
· Type in the defective channel and use add to move it to the bad channel list.
· Click Store .
· Select IRS to save the patched channel.
· Click load and mark Defective Channel Correction to get the next slice combination.

Ring program
The ring function is used to calculate the fan beam channels and fan beam projection angles of ring-shaped artifacts in a
CT-image.
· Start an offset scan.
· Select the image with the ring artefact and click load image .
The applet (Fig. 43) displays :

Fig. 43 Example of ROI/Ring

In the right panel, select the ring. Place the
cursor inside the image and adjust the size of
the ring by clicking and dragging the mouse.
Adjust the ring to the size of the artifact. The
two corresponding channels are displayed in
the right panel. Find the respective slot
according to "Channel/slot table" on the next
page. Click Show parameters to access an
additional message window.

Isolate the defective GI card according to the following list. Swap one GI card and perform a scan. Check the image for
ring artifacts. If there are no artifacts, you found the defective card. If artifacts continue to be present, swap the second
GI card. Perform a scan and check the image. No artifacts: you found the defective card. Remaining artifacts: continue
with the Defective Channel Editor.

as a "six pack". All other modules are replaced with type "B" modules.
