My name is Bich Thuy. I am forty-nine years old. I am a lecturer at Bac Lieu
University. Every day, I get up early to cook breakfast for my family. Then I take my
son to school and I go to university. I go home and cook our lunch and then I go to
university again. In the evening we have dinner at six.
I like music and we often sing karaoke in the evening. Sometimes we watch a good
film.

PART II Topic Presentation (15 Marks)

Topic 1: Talk about advantages and disadvantages of distance education.
Nói về những thuận lợi và bất lợi của giáo dục từ xa.
The distance education has the following advantages:
- Everyone may study at home or near their house. Therefore, they may work normally.
- They may study at night. Therefore, they may work by day.
- The tuition is cheap.
The distance education has the following disadvantages:
- Students cannot see the teachers. They have to work alone.
- Teachers cannot explain the lessons timely.

Topic 2. In your opinion, what is the most useful machine these days? Why do you
think it is the most useful?
In my opinion, mobile phones are the most useful machine these days for the following
reasons:
- Almost everyone has a mobile phones.
- Everyone uses it many times a day.
- We can contact everyone in the world.
- We can play games, enjoy music, watch films, etc.
- We can learn many things.

Topic 3. What is the means of transportation you like most? Why

There are many means of transportations nowadays, but I like plane most for the
following reasons.
- It is the fastest means.
- Travelling fast, we can save time to do other things.
- Travelling fast, we can keep ourselves healthy. We aren’t very so tired as we travel by
train, ship or bus.

Topic 4. Think about your own experience of an exciting day. Talk about it.
I have spent some exciting days, but I most remember when my son pass the exam.
When my son went home one day and told me that he passed the exam, I was very
excited. I was very happy and I will never forget this.

Topic 5. What do you think is the most amazing natural wonder in the world? Why?
In my opinion, the most amazing natural wonder in the world is Ha Long Bay for the
following reasons:
- It is very very beautiful with so many islands.
- The air is very fresh and the water is very pure.
- It attracts the most visitors, both foreign and domestic, in Vietnam.
- Almost everyone in the world knows it.

Topic 6. Are you over working at your work? What time management tips can help it?
As a lecturer and a mother at home, I have overworked at my university and at
home. I may suggest some time management tips:
- I should teach in an enough number of periods so that I can do my scientific
research.
- I ask my daughter and my son to help me with some housework.
- My husband should share some housework with me.

Topic 7. Is it difficult for you to say sorry? Can you remember the last thing you
apologized for? Talk about it.
In my opinion, it is difficult for me to say sorry.
The last thing I apologised for is forgetting my son’s birthday.
I had to teach a lot. I had to prepare the lessons and correct my students’ papers.
Then I forgot my son’s birthday.
He was very sad, but he didn’t tell me then. The next day I remembered it. I was
very sorry and I bought him a gift.

Topic 8. Your friend wants to go camping in the mountains by himself for a week.
He’s never gone camping before. What advices would you give him.
If my friend goes camping in the mountains by himself for a week, I will give hime the
following advice:
- He should take a tent and enough clothes.
- He should take enough foods and drinks.
- He should take a torch and matches.
- He should take a mobile phone with enough extra battery to contact other people.
- He should take some medicine.
PART 3. Topic Development (Questions and Answers) (5 Marks)

The examiner asks you some questions about the topic in Part 2. You may be asked to
give your opinion or to talk about something that has happened to you.

hoặc nói về điều gì đó đã xảy ra với bạn.

Topic 2. In your opinion, what is the most useful machine these days? Why do you
think it is the most useful?

Nowadays, mobile phones play a major role in our lives.

Mobile phones certainly bring a lot of advantages. First of all, they are considered the
quickest means of communication in our daily life. We can contact our friends and our
relatives wherever and whenever by calling or sending messages. Secondly, they are
popularity used as a storage device. We can store and keep thousands of pictures,
songs, movies and games on the phone. Moreover, by using the latest apps for smart
phones, we can access to the internet to watch Film and check our profile in social
networks or update our status wherever we are. Finally, if we have a smartphone in
hand, our studying becomes more effective such as looking up dictionary, finding out
sources of reference on the internet.

Topic 3. What is the means of transportation you like most? Why

I’m a …………….. I work at ………………… I usually go to work by bus because I

think this mean of transportation is very useful.
Travelling by bus is really cheap. I just have to pay 6 thousand VND to go to work.
The weather has been becoming worse these days. On the bus, I just sit and enjoy
favorite songs from my cell phone regardless of the weather condition.
In addition, buses help reduce traffic jams, accidents and reduce environmental
pollution.
