Sept. 15, 2010

Members Present: Fr. Larry, Dave Andrys, Jennifer Briske, Phil Meyer, Nikki Anvinson, Jim
Remer, Rob Jung, Mary Amundson, Mare Thompson, Karen Cisek, Ed Zimprich, Michelle
Kraft

Absent: Sharon Fletcher

I. Prayer – Fr. Larry opened the meeting with prayer.

II. Mary Amundson called the meeting to order.

III. Agenda/Minutes Approval

a. Attendance as listed above.
b. Agenda additions or deletions: Senior Survey will be removed until Oct; School
Board Planning Calendar added to Continuing Business (Motion, Ed/Second, Nikki)
c. Minutes for August: Attendance – Mare was absent; Ed was present; New
Business/Election of Officers/Board Committees: correct spelling to “Budget”
Approved as changed (Motion, Jim/Second, Ed)

IV. Standing Committee Reports:

a. Athletic Club
a. Looking for officers and new members
b. Reviewing fundraising efforts
c. Transitioning Athletic Director
b. Development
1) Representative to the School Board will be either Jill Sczepanski or Michelle
Kraft
2) Grandparents’ Day is scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday, Sept.16).
3) Development is working with the Athletic Club on the upcoming Jubilee, Hall
of Fame banquet, and Golf Tournament. Last year the golf tournament netted
$20,000 with 104 golfers participating.
4) Planning is happening for the 100th year celebration of the school.
5) Cookbooks are here.
6) Rake A Thon and calendars are going well.
7) Development assistant has been hired.
8) Spring Fling gifts are coming in.
c. PGI
1) Teacher/staff breakfast is planned.
2) One new idea is to have a “Teacher of the Month” display.

V. Principals’ Reports:

a. David Andrys – report distributed

b. Phil Meyer reported:

1) Enrollment is ~150.
2) Phil has been meeting with students to discuss dress code and bullying.

VI. Superintendent’s/Pastor’s Update:

a. Upcoming changes to Pastoral staff – Fr. Bill is going to Lancaster.

b. Sr. Margeurite is the 9th grade religion teacher.
c. Jenelle Gergen is the 12th grade religion teacher: Theology of the Body
d. Fr. Tony will be at SH for 10 months.
e. There is a Youth Rally on Oct 21st at Thief River Falls. One topic is Theology of the
Body.

VII. Continuing Business

a. Policy Updates – Large Scale Absence Policy – Motion by Mare, seconded by Ed, to
accept the policy as written. Passed unanimously.
b. Academic Year start date: Discussion of the process for deciding on a start date on a
annual basis. A decision will be made in December regarding the start date, taking various
logistical issues into consideration, and this information will go out with the January
enrollment packets.
c. School Board Planning Calendar – Motion by Nikki, seconded by Mare, to accept the
calendar as presented. Passed unanimously.
