Introduction

This analysis will focus on the success of my instructional plan based on student’s

assessment results. I will discuss the achievement of the whole class for each

objective and an individual student’s results with one objective.

Brimigion 2

Whole-Class Pre-Assessment and Post Assessment Results

Cognitive
Objective 1.1

After reading pages 4-13 of Alligators and Crocodiles by Laura Marsh, the teacher will model
drawing an alligator or crocodile, and the student will copy the labels.

Student Pre-Assessment Post-Assessment Met Criteria

Friend C: No Yes Yes

Friend E: Absent Yes Yes

Friend H: No Yes Yes

Friend I: No Absent Absent

Friend A: No Absent Absent

Friend B: Absent Yes Yes

Friend D: No Absent Absent

Friend F: Yes Absent Absent

Friend G: No Yes Yes

Brimigion 3

The assessment results for Objective 1.1 illustrated that all students who were

present for the lesson were able to meet the objective. Each student who was present

for instruction met the criteria for the objective by drawing an alligator and labeling its

body parts. Students’ post-assessment showed me they grasped the directions and

remembered the vocabulary we discussed in class. I believe the results genuinely

represent the learning of my students. The Pre-Assessment will be regiven for the

absent students, and then I will reteach the lesson in a small group.
Brimigion 4

Cognitive
Objective 1.2

Independently the student will retell at least one fact they learned from the video about Alligators
and Crocodiles.

Student Pre-Assessment Post-Assessment Met Criteria

Friend C: Yes Friend C met the Pre-Assessment

without assistance. I tested friend C
on objective 1.2b for the
post-assessment.

Friend E: Absent Yes Yes

Friend H: No Yes Yes

Friend I: Yes Friend, I met the Pre-Assessment

without assistance. Friend I was
tested on objective 1.2b for the
post-assessment.

Friend F Friend F was assessed on Yes Yes

1.2A but met the objective
without assistance from the
teacher. I gave friend F
post-assessment 1.2.
Brimigion 5

On the Pre-Assessment of Objective 1.2, Friend C and Friend I both met the

objective. Both students met the objective independently. For the Post Assessment,

Friend C and Friend I were given Post Assessment 1.2B. Friend C and I’s Post

Assessment data can be viewed under objective 1.2B. Friend E was absent for the

Pre-Assessment because her iPad was broken. Friend E and Friend H were able to

meet Objective 1.2 criteria on the Post Assessment. Friend F was given the

Pre-Assessment for Objective 1.2A but met the objective without assistance from the

teacher. Based on Friend F’s performance on the Pre-Assessment was given the Post

Assessment for Objective 1.2. Friend F met the criteria for Objective 1.2 in the Post

Assessment.
Brimigion 6

Cognitive Objective 1.2A

With support from the teacher, the student will retell at least one fact they learned from the video
about Alligators & Crocodiles.

Student Pre-Assessment Post-Assessment Met Criteria

Friend A: No Absent Absent

Friend B: Absent Did not complete the Absent

post-assessment

Friend D: No Absent Absent

Friend F: Yes I assessed friend F on objective 1.2

Friend G: No Yes Yes

Brimigion 7

For Objective 1.2A, 60% of the students were absent. 20% of the students met

the objective. Based on the Pre-Assessment result for Objective 1.2A, I gave 20% of the

students a more challenging Post Assessment. It is difficult to determine the success of

Objective 1.2 because more than half of the students were absent. Friend F met the

criteria for Pre-Assessment 1.2A, so she was assessed on objective 1.2. To view her

Post Assessment results, see the data for Objective 1.2. Friend G was absent for the

Pre-Assessment, but she met the criteria for Objective 1.2A on the post-assessment.

This assessment could be repeated when all students are present to yield more clear

results about students’ understanding of the content taught.

Brimigion 8

Cognitive
Objective 1.2B

Independently the student will retell at least two facts they learned from the video about Alligators

and Crocodiles.

Student Pre-Assessment Post-Assessment Met Criteria

using Pre-Assessment 1.2.
post-assessment

Friend I: Friend I was assessed Did not complete the No

using Pre-Assessment 1.2.
post-assessment
Brimigion 9

Friend C and Friend I were both given Pre-Assessment 1.2. Both students were

able to meet the objective without assistance from the teacher. Friend C and Friend I

was given Post Assessment 1.2B, but neither of the students completed the

post-assessment homework. Before future planning, I would reassess both students on

Objective 1.2B to determine if the objective is too challenging or if the student can meet

the criteria.
Brimigion 10

Cognitive Objective 1.3

After reading pages 14-19 of Alligators and Crocodiles by Laura Marsh, the student will demonstrate
at least two facts from the text and place them in a category (can, are, or have) with support from
the teacher

Student Pre-Assessment Post-Assessment Met Criteria

Friend F I gave friend F Friend F did not complete the No

Pre-Assessment 1.3A
post-assessment

Friend G I gave friend G Yes Yes

Pre-Assessment
Brimigion 11

Friend C, H, and I were given Pre-Assessment 1.3, and all three were able to

meet the objective criteria. Friend C, H, and I were able to meet the objective with little

to no support. Based on Pre-Assessment data, Friend C, H, and I were given Post

Assessment 1.3B. Friend F and G both took Pre-Assessment 1.3A. Both were able to

meet the objective expectations for 1.3A. I gave friends F and G Post Assessment 1.3.

Friend F did not complete the post-assessment. Friend G was able to meet the criteria

for objective 1.3 on the post-assessment. I would like to retest Friend F on Post

Assessment 1.3 to see her performance. Friend G seems capable of meeting Objective

1.3B. I plan to test Friend G on Objective 1.3B to gauge if it is too challenging for her or

if she needs a more challenging objective.

Brimigion 12

Cognitive 1.3A

After reading pages 14-19 of Alligators and Crocodiles by Laura Marsh, the student will demonstrate at
least one fact from the text and place it in one category (can, are, or have) with support from the
teacher.

33% of the students were absent for Objective 1.3A. 33.3% of the students did

not meet Objective 1.3A. Based on the Pre-Assessment data for Objective 1.3A, I gave

33.3% of the students a more challenging Post assessment for Objective 1.3. I would

like to provide this assessment again to the absent students and the one student who

did not complete the post-assessment homework.

Brimigion 13

Modified Objective 1.3B

After reading pages 14-19 of Alligators and Crocodiles by Laura Marsh, the student will demonstrate

at least three facts from the text and place them in a category (can, are, or have) with support from

the teacher.

Student Pre-Assessment Post-Assessment Met Criteria

Friend C: I gave friend C the Friend C did not complete the No

Pre-Assessment 1.3 post-assessment

Friend H: I gave friend H the Friend H did not meet the No

Pre-Assessment 1.33 post-assessment

Friend I: I gave Friend I the Yes Yes

Pre-Assessment 1.3
Brimigion 14

For Objective 1.3B, 66.7% of the students did not complete the post-assessment

homework. 33.3% of the students met Objective 1.3B. I would like to give the

Post-Assessment 1.3B again to Friend C and H to determine if the objective is too

challenging for them. Both students met Objective 1.3A on the Pre-Assessment, so

post-assessment data is needed to identify which expectations are appropriate. Friend, I

met the criteria for Post Assessment 1.3B.

Brimigion 15

Cognitive Objective 1.4

The student will apply what they have learned this week to write at least one sentence about
alligators and crocodiles on their whiteboard.

Student Pre-Assessment Post-Assessment Met Criteria

Friend C: Yes Yes Yes

Friend E: Friend E was absent Friend E was absent Absent

Friend H: Yes Yes Yes

Friend I: Yes Friend, I did not complete the No

post-assessment

Friend G: I gave friend G Yes Yes

Pre-Assessment 1.4AA

Friend F: I gave friend F Yes Yes

Pre-Assessment 1.4A
Brimigion 16

For the Post-Assessment of Objective 1.4, 16.7% of the students were absent.

The objective was met by 66.7% of the students. Most students who were present for

the lesson and completed the post-assessment met the criteria for the objective. The

student who did not meet the objective did not turn in their post-assessment. I would like

to reassess Friend I because she did not complete the post-assessment. Based on my

observations of Friend I skills in ELA class, she should be able to meet Objective 1.4.
Brimigion 17

Cognitive 1.4A

With support from the teacher, the student will apply what they have learned this week to write at least
one sentence about alligators and crocodiles on their whiteboard

Student Pre-Assessment Post-Assessment Met Criteria

Friend A: No Friend A did not complete the No

post-assessment

Friend B: Student was Absent Student was absent Absent

Friend D: No Student was absent Absent

Friend F: Yes I gave friend F post assessment 1.4

Friend G: Yes I gave friend G post assessment 1.4

Brimigion 18

For Objective 1.4A, 40% of the students were absent. Based on the

Pre-Assessment for 1.4A, 40% of the students took a more challenging

post-assessment. 20% of the students did not meet the objective because they did not

complete the post-assessment homework. I want to reassess the student who did not

complete the post-assessment.

Brimigion 19

Affective Objective 2.1

Students will meet at least two out of five behavior expectations for remote learning on the checklist.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

Friend G Yes Yes Yes Yes

Friend H Yes Yes Yes Yes

Friend I Yes Yes Yes Yes

Friend C Yes Yes Yes Yes

Brimigion 20

All students assessed on Objective 2.1 were able to meet the expected Objective

throughout the week or lessons. Objective 2.1 was evaluated during each lesson.

Students assessed using Objective 2.1 need to have more behavior expectations added

to the checklist for them to meet because all students could meet Objective 2.1 with little

to no assistance.
Brimigion 21

Affective Objective 2.1A

Students will meet at least one out of five of the behavior expectations for remote learning on the
checklist.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

Friend A Yes Absent Absent Yes

Friend B Yes Yes Yes Yes

Friend D Absent Absent Absent Absent

Friend E Yes Yes Yes Absent

Friend F Absent Yes Absent Absent

Brimigion 22

Each day of the lesson, 40% of the students being assessed on Objective 2.1A

were absent. The 60% of students in class each day met the objective criteria. In the

future, I will assess Friend A, Friend B, and Friend E on Objective 2.1A. The students

needed very few reminders to focus and generally seemed excited and curious about

the content of the lessons. I plan to use the Affective assessment checklist in other

lessons to compare students’ success with different content and determine how the

objective should be increased in the future.

Individual Learner Results

Objective 1.4A & 1.4

Friend G

Cognitive Objective 1.4

The student will apply what they have learned this week to write at least one sentence about
alligators and crocodiles on their whiteboard.

Cognitive 1.4A

With support from the teacher, the student will apply what they have learned this week to write at
least one sentence about alligators and crocodiles on their whiteboard

Student Pre-Assessment 1.4A Post-Assessment 1.4 Met Criteria

Friend G: Yes Yes Yes

Brimigion 24

For individual learner results, I decided to focus on Friend G’s performance on

Pre-Assessment 1.4A and Post Assessment 1.4. During the Formative Assessment, 1.4

Friend G produced and recalled multiple facts about alligators and crocodiles. When

sharing what she remembered, Friend G signed “Alligators can eat,” “Alligators have

egg babies,” “Alligators need sun.” We practiced using our Can, Are, Have chart to write

one sentence about alligators and crocodiles during the formative assessment. During

the formative assessment, Friend G showed she understood the process of taking a fact

from our chart and forming it into a sentence. For the formative assessment, Friend G

produced the writing sample below “Alligators eat snakes.”

During the formative assessment, Friend G produced a sentence with very little

support, which exceeded the criteria for Objective 1.4A. I gave Friend G Post

Assessment 1.4 based on her Pre-Assessment results. Friend G’s post-assessment

showed she still could exceed the more challenging objective 1.4 (writing one sentence
Brimigion 25

about alligators or crocodiles) independently. Friend G shows advanced writing skills.

For Post Assessment, Friend G produced the work sample below.

Friend G’s writing sample for the post-assessment demonstrates she has a grasp

on multiple writing skills. Friend G produced two sentences independently, “Alligators

have a body.” and “Crocodiles have a tail.” Both sentences include a subject and

predicate like we practiced in class. Friend G demonstrates strong orthography skills.

Friend G pluralized both subjects correctly, adding the suffix -s. Friend G included a

capital letter and period and the beginning and end of each sentence. Based on Friend

G’s performance on the pre-assessment and post-assessment, she could benefit from

being assessed on a more challenging objective. I would set a goal for Friend G to

practice drawing pictures and to produce three-four sentences about a topic. The next

step is to give Friend G a Pre-Assessment and observe her performance creating three

to four sentences.
