Q. 1 Please choose some real-life conflict situation, preferably from the organizational
settings. Describe the history of the conflict. Try to identify the significant issues and the
conflicting parties' views. Keeping in view the developments, please develop an
understanding of how war is being tackled and which conflict-handling style is being used?

History of the conflict

A conflict is a struggle between people, which may be physical, or between conflicting ideas.
Here we choose PepsiCo Organization as an example found their essential product "Lays" salted,
got salt issue according to a public survey. The quantity of the salt is increased which is
complained by the public which is not suitable for the company. The conflict between the
companies tastes inspection.
Frito-Lay recalls its Lays salted, flavoured potato chips because they may contain an undeclared
allergen.
The consumer with a severe sensitivity to sodium risk a potentially fatal Frito-Lay said in a
statement to the food and drug administration.

i. Conflict in between 2019

ii. Misunderstanding between inspectors.

In 2019, they found that their primary product lays salted, got more salt in quantity
sodium. So when the conflicts arise initially, they stop production, but later on, they started, but
the competition remains the same.
So the name "Salted" from packed removed. But conflict remains the same. After that food
inspector got to participate in it and reduce the salt quantity. But later on, their conflict resolved,
and they changed their primary produced name, "Salted", to "Lays classic". So the dispute
between them has been resolved.

Q.2 Please furnish the lessons learnt from this real-life situation and give your
recommendations for the resolution of the conflict.

Recommendations

We give some suggestions to these companies about these types of conflicts.

First of all, make sure the teamwork and meetings in which all the members are given
their suggestions and also check and balance on the production quality because if your product
has some worth in the market, it's only the basis of quality and quantity of each thing which is
included in the product.
Production managers and inspection teams must have a check and balance of all the products to
make sure the product quality is the same. If once the quality is low, and the public feels the
quality issue then this type of issues badly effect on your product market or maybe your product
unable to get the same position in the market because some of the competitors take benefit of
these type of conflicts, and possibly your competitors get your place in the market.
So, teamwork and check and balance by the inspection teams and production managers for the
product are essential for any Production Company to avoid these types of conflicts.
As we discussed before that there are five types of conflicts, so here, we suggest the type in
which they have to work in a win-win situation.

Collaboration: is the type of conflict in which all members should work together and resolve
any issues with meetings and teamwork and have inspection teams checked and balanced for
quality assurance.
