Activity:
To introduce my lesson, I will call students into a group and tell them that they are going
to learn about making different colors.
• I will inform students that when two or more colors are mixed, they make a
different color and I will make sure to tell them that they will see how red, yellow,
and blue mix to make a new color.
• Bring out the materials I will be using to show the class how colors change when
they are mixed together.
• I will take some red paint and brush it onto a piece of paper, then add some
yellow paint and show students how together the paint turned orange.
o As I am demonstrating, I will remind that red, blue, and yellow are
known as primary colors, or colors that can't be created by mixing
any two colors together.
o I will also tell them that secondary colors are colors that are
created by mixing primary colors together.
What Happened:
• When secondary colors were mixed together it changed into another color, and
when white was added into primary colors it made the paint into a lighter shade
of the color.

What Next:
• I will bring the students back into a group and review the activity by going over
the color wheel. I will encourage students to explain the concept in their own
words and ask the class questions about color combinations and let them
respond as a group.
