different animals meet their needs in different ways. While they all have the same needs
(food, water, shelter, etc.) they meet them in different ways. We will come up with
examples of how animals meet their needs.
• I will introduce What If You Had Animal Teeth? and tell the class that we are going to
create pictures of ourselves with the animal teeth from the book.
B. Plan for extension activity:
• After I’m done reading, students will be given templates to create a picture of
themselves with animal teeth. I will show them an example of how this is done.
• Students will choose an animal from the book and explain why they chose that
animals teeth.

• Once they have picked their animal and gave their explanation, they will draw a
picture of themselves with the teeth they have chosen.

5. Closure:
• Following this activity, we would brainstorm other ways animals are built differently
from one another that aids them in meeting their needs.
• I would introduce the concept of adaptation. Animals have certain body parts or
adaptations that help them survive and thrive in their own environment.
