Topic Divide whole numbers by unit fractions and Divide unit fractions by whole numbers

Time Allotment: 45mins

1. Unit/Chapter Goal/s:
 Chapter 10 – Multiply and Divide Fractions
 Students will be able to understand how to divide whole numbers by unit fractions and divide
unit fractions by whole numbers.
2. Learning Objectives:
Cognitive: Students will be able to explain the solution by using the method like how many unit fraction
is in the whole numbers or how many of the parts represent the unit fraction.
Affective: Students will be able to practice the divide whole numbers by unit fractions and divide unit
fractions by whole numbers classwork by their own in 15mins.
Psychomotor: Students will be able to identify which number to keep, which numbers to flip and switch
division to multiplication when they are checking for solution.
3. Materials: (books, white board, A4 sheet)
4. Intro/Anticipatory Set: (Review, and let students to solve the simple divide whole numbers by unit
fractions and divide unit fractions by whole numbers)

5. Procedure:
 Write 2 problems on whiteboard
 Ask what is unit fraction and whole numbers
 Write down what is unit fraction and whole numbers
 Explain examples of each divide whole numbers by unit fractions and divide unit fractions by
whole numbers (20mins)
o Let them to read first
o Ask what they have to draw
o Draw model on board
o Explain the solution by using the method like how many unit fraction is in the whole
numbers or how many of the parts represent the unit fraction.
o Call out the numbers and check answers together with students
o Ask students to remember which numbers to keep and which numbers to flip when they
switch division to multiplication
 Give classwork sheet (15mins)
o Let students to finish before next class
