HOW GLOBALIZATION SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECTS 21ST CENTURY INDIVIDUALS AND THE SOCIETY

Almost all individuals in the world must have already felt one way or another, the not so
ordinary things happening in today’s world. about the extraordinary things that are happening in
today’s world. Many enjoy the advancement of technology, where in a just a span of a second, they can
already connect with the people whom they want to communicate with or get the information they
need coming from different sources around the globe; everyone also enthusiastically consumes
products from different countries be it food, car, clothing, latest gadgets, movies and many more some
of those products also already become symbols of prestige; and a lot of people affected with the events
regarding politics of a certain country, on how a particular leader do the decision – making process to
address a certain issue or problem. Recently the whole world was shaken in fear with the news about
the uprising tension between US and Iraq, which if not mediated, may eventually lead to war. Everyone
was also perplexed with the spread of the Corona virus, which originated in China and have spread
across the world.

Globalization which is defined as a process or set of processes that embodies transformation in

the spatial organization of social relations and transactions, generating transcontinental or interregional
flows and networks of activity, interaction, and power has long been emerging in the world. For
centuries it has contributed a lot of changes in the way the world moves until it reached its vast and
complicated state at present where everything is interconnected.

With the growth of migration of people, and the fast development in transportation and
communication, its speed and extent has increased, making a lot of changes in the over-all structure and
system of the world. (Dator, Fairness, Globalization and Public Institution, 2006)

Globalization then is a very important topic everyone should have knowledge about in this 21 st
century world. The author of this think paper will be discussing about how globalization significantly
affects the 21st Century Individuals and the Society.

Politically speaking, we can see the effects of globalization in the world in the way the leaders or
government officials of a certain country decides and act in addressing the needs of its people. in the
way it connects and try to establish a healthy and strong relationship with other countries, in the way it
adheres to the policies and guidelines of international law, and in the way it is affected positively or
negatively with the events happening outside its premises.

In terms of economics, globalization plays a key element in the growth of trading activities
across the globe, in the increasing number of global exports and transnational production, and in the
skyrocketing of the world financial flows. (Held, McGrew, Goldblatt, and Perraton, Global Governance
Vol 5,1999).
 Socially speaking, globalization connects people from different parts of the world, which is made
easier by the Internet and technology. It is then causes the exchange of cultures, traditions, and beliefs
to all people.
