Reflection

I have learned a lot from this subject that I may use in my future profession.
Resource materials are one of those, these resource materials are books and other teaching
materials.
These materials should be well organized according to their functions and characteristics.
These should be placed in an orderly manner as to subject areas or as to subject matter for
grading period.
In this manner the teacher and students can easily access what they need for a certain topic or
subject
Materials also need to be labeled properly to avoid wasting of time in finding what students’
need, instructions on how to use those also need to be stated clearly to be easily understood by
students.
Tangible materials like microphone, sound system, computer, projector etc. must be properly
monitored to prevent lost of learning materials. So, for this we need a log book where whoever
wants to borrow our materials, they will need to sign up indicating the date when it was
borrowed, name, signature and the date it will be returned.
There are also strengths of the learning resource center and also weaknesses.
The main strength of learning resource center is its attractiveness to the students. Colorful
pictures are posted on walls which by themselves serve as learning materials. The main
weakness on the other hand is its size. The number of students make it difficult for them to fit in
the learning resource center. Moreover, it serves as an extension classroom which makes it even
smaller. Suggestions, the students can take their turns in using the LCR. They can probably do it
by grade level so as to avoid overcrowding. LCR should also be conducive to learning so classes
should not be done inside.
There are also many technologies being used in teaching, like networking, online teaching, class
blogs, mobile devices and many more to improve learning teaching process in which benefit are
evident in utilizing varied educational technology like improvement of engagement among
learners, improve knowledge retention, encourage individual learning, encourage collaboration
and students can learn useful skills.
Bulletin board displays, the location of our display is just as important as the information put on
it. Classroom doors, windows, storage board, front pan of teacher’s table or anywhere visible to
learners.
Display board design also affects the interest of the audience so the display should capture the
students’ attention. The language to be used must be clear and simple so that the audience could
easily read and understand the writings on the board. If not then they would have a different
understanding or interpretation or worst, they don’t understand at all.
The purpose of bulletin board display is to attract the attention of the students, promotes the
creativity of students and teachers, an effective communication of the intended message, used as
an effective educational media and can be used in a large number of audience.
Bulletin board can easily become one of a teacher’s most preferred classroom accessories; so
must be colorful and decorative to catch student’s attention. Bulletin boards serve as information
dissemination areas for rules, contests and consequences for misconduct so it has to be updated.
It can also be used by students by hanging their work in it. Making them a perfect way to show
evidence of learning.
Utilization of teaching aids; instructional materials should be appropriate for the age, emotional
and social development and ability level of your students for whom the materials area selected
but the availability and the cost of the materials has to be put into consideration. Teachers also
experience a lot of difficulties in the teaching learning process, this includes the lack of
knowledge of the teacher in using the materials mentioned above and lack of materials used in
remote places. Lack of knowledge teacher in using the materials. If the teacher is not
knowledgeable enough or does not have any experience using the materials he/she should ask
someone’s assistance to do it for him/her. Learning resource materials used effectively in the
class because they all have the ability to supports student’s learning. However, in some cases
problems may arise when objectives are poorly given.

Utilization of teaching materials.


Available materials are appropriate for our target grade level. Teachers must always consider the
characteristics and the nature of the students, their ability, interest and even their health.

Teaching tools include: teaching aids. They include cards, charts, grids, pictures, drawing,
photos, magazines, worksheets and wind mapping. Technology, video, digital material, data
show, CDs, electronic program, dictionary, websites, the computer, the internet, E-book
intelligent board, blackboard, regalia, actual fields, real situations, online dictionaries, graphic
organizers, virtual tours of their latest exhibits, the real daily environmental things.
Teaching resource materials: they include: the actual daily-life sites and environmental realia.
Concrete teaching materials. e,g.(book, classroom supplies for teachers realia, CD, Video Tape,
tablet, ipad, mac, and apple Tv.
Theoretical teaching materials example: workshops and training units.
There are also online teachers’ tools/resources: Google DOC’s, Wordpress, Google Forms, Logo
Maker, Internet Readings, Kahoot, The Web Resources, Voice of America learning English,
Grammarly, TED Talks, Youglish and Contemporary American English and also Edmodo,
Socrative, LessonCast, Glgster EDU, SchoolTube, Storybird, Free Rice 2.0, Flash Card Machine,
Bitstrips for Schools, Kidblog, DK Instant Expert TED- ED and Videonot es there are 25 all in
all.
There are also electronic teaching and learning programs this includes the following; Word
Program, Excel Program, Power-Point Program, Access Program, MS picture management
Program, movie-maker Program Free-mind Program, Lingoes Program, Celestia Program,
Yanka Program, Anki Program, Jing Program, Hot potatoes Program, MS Mathematics Program,
the Sage Program, Chemistry Crocodile Program, Physics crocodile Program and a lot of other
electronic Programs. Electronic teaching enables the teacher to do an electronic lesson planand
give an electronic lesson presentation.
The benefit of doing a survey of available materials for making your own materials are as
follows:
Cost- Doing a survey before making your teaching aids will greatly reduce your expences
Time- In teaching, time is very essential to survey before creating your materials will save your
time and effort.
Appropriateness of the materials- Surveying first the available materials makes an ample time to
effectively plan your teaching materials to be used and its appropriateness will be considered.
The following are tips on the preparation of teaching of teaching materials:
Gather Basic Teaching Items, this will make planning and teaching easier.
Collect useful materials like cut outs, photographs, brochures, magazine articles, building blocks,
story books and others.
These are the important things that I should remember always, for me to be able to effectively
perform my future profession. These are the answers to the most important questions we need to
remember as a student.
Reaction

Blended learning or education done at home is not an easy thing or task to accomplish.
Most of us students are used to attend school for learning but changes has been made from
regular formal schooling to blended yet effective learning.
This may not be the usual kind of learning or studying but the quality of education we received is
the same. This is our first Field Study done outside school premises.
I learned a lot from our cooperating teachers who helped us go through this subject and I am very
thankful about it because even though this is not what we had expected, it went well with the
help of our thoughtful teachers and mentors. Fs 3 is one of our most important requirements for
us to be able to go to the next level of our college journey and here I’ve learned the different
technologies and references we can use in a particular place or time.
I am also very happy that despite all the hindrances we have encountered while finishing this
subject we still have managed to finish it on time.
And I am hoping to learn more about subjects related to this one so we can use it in our future
career.
And last but not the least I am very thankful to all the persons who helped us in answering our
questionnaire, May God continue to bless them and guide us not only in our educational career
but in our day to day living.
