The following instructions and the above mentioned Safety documentation contain im‐
portant safety information as well as information about tools to be used.
Operating the WCS water pump without water (e.g. during filling/refilling the gantry)
When opening or tightening copper pipe connections, hold the pipe with a pipe wrench.
Otherwise, the copper pipe could bend, causing leaks.
All gaskets required in the water circulation system are included with the spare parts. Al‐
ways use new gaskets when replacing these parts.

Only qualified and trained service staff is allowed to perform service activities on the sys‐
tem. Therefore, the exchange of “common” FRUs (Field Replaceable Unit), such as PCBs
(Printed Circuit Board), contactors, circuit breakers, connectors, fuses, lamps, switches
etc., is not described in this document.
Some of the common FRUs require additional information or adjusting.
Please refer to ( Shutoff Valve / Page 41) before replacement.

The water volume of the complete cooling system is approx. 30 liters (if 20 m water
pipes to and from gantry is used).
Filling as well as refilling of the gantry water circuit must be performed with the WCS
switched off. Operating the water pump of the WCS before the gantry water circuit
(Gantry WCS loop) has been (re)filled is prohibited! ==> Even short-term operation with‐
out water will destroy the water pump!

Fig. 5: Permanent bleeding valve
Do not unscrew the valve adapter( 2/Fig. 5 Page 13). This opens the water circulation
system and allows water to escape.
2.3.4 Installation
1. Install the valve in the reverse order of removal.
The gaskets required in the water circulation system are included with the spare parts.
Always use the new gaskets when replacing these parts.
The nominal water pressure for the gantry water circuit is 2 +/-0.2 bar, with the WCS
switched off. Refilling is required if the water pressure drops below 1.8 bar. Please refer
to ( Filling the cooling system / Page 11).

The spirovent bleeding device can be physically divided into two parts:
n the lower part ( 1/Fig. 6 Page 16), contains the bleeding mechanics
n the upper part ( 2/Fig. 6 Page 16), contains no mechanical movable parts
Only the upper part of the spirovent bleeding device is authorized to be replaced in
the field (FRU).
2.4.3 Removal
1. Open the styrofoam cover of the spirovent by undoing the cable tie.
2. Turn the upper part of the spirovent counterclockwise ( 2/Fig. 6 Page 16).
When opening the connection, proceed with care if holding the lower part of
the bleeding device with a pipe wrench ( 1/Fig. 6 Page 16).
2.4.4 Installation
1. Install the new spirovent bleeding device by turning it clockwise ( 2/Fig. 6 Page 16).
To avoid bending the copper when tightening the connection, proceed with
care if holding the lower part of the bleeding device with a pipe wrench
( 1/Fig. 6 Page 16).

NOTICE
There are two types of spare parts with different symbols for the flow direction.
The 3-way valve must be installed for the correct flow direction. Observe the sym‐
bols on the 3-way valve to ensure the correct installation ( Fig. 11 Page 25).
The different symbols on the valve: A is equivalent to II; AB is equivalent to I;
B is equivalent to III.
