Engine and fuel pump timing angles October 2006

Static timing
This Service Bulletin applies to engines that are fitted with the Delphi DPG or DP 200 EG fuel injection pumps.
If necessary, remove the fuel injection pump from the engine, refer to the relevant Workshop Manual for the
correct procedure.
The “engine checking angle” must be checked with a special tool 929-699. In addition to this, shaft adapters
(FGW part numbers 980-060 and 929-695) are required. The engine must be set with the number 1
piston at top dead centre on the compression stroke. Refer to the relevant Workshop Manual for the correct
procedure. Check the position of the scribed line on the timing case, refer to the table below for the correct
engine checking angle.
To validate the pump timing check angle the pointer and the flange mark alignment, refer to the table below
for the correct pump marking angle.
Pressurise the relevant pump outlet (see table below) to 55 bar, turn the fuel injection pump until it locks in
order to find the “pump marking angle”, re-mark the fuel pump flange if necessary.
Install the fuel injection pump to the engine and ensure that the two marks are aligned. Refer to the relevant
Workshop Manual for the correct procedure.
