Learning Objective:
Key Concepts
Health Trend- the inclination to proceed in a certain direction or at a certain rate; used
to describe the prognosis or course of a symptom, disease, or methods of disease
management.
Reproductive Health- crucial for it paves the way for social and economic
development. The health of the newborn will be dependent on the health of
the parents, particularly the mother.
Substance Use and Abuse- usually means drugs and alcohol. These are two
areas we don't often associate with seniors, but seniors, like young people,
may self-medicate using legal and illegal drugs and alcohol, which can lead to
serious health consequences.
Tobacco Use is the single greatest preventable cause of illness and premature
death in the U.S. Tobacco use is now called "Tobacco dependence disease." To
protect people from the sale, use and advertisement of hazardous tobacco the
government provided the Republic Acft No. 9211 or the Tobacco Regulation
Act of 2003.
Social health can be defined as our ability to interact and form meaningful
relationships with others. It also relates to how comfortably we can adapt in
social situations. Social relationships have an impact on our mental health,
physical health and mortality risk.

Pollution- is the process of making land, water, air or other parts of the
environment dirty and not safe or suitable to use. And this has been a
long problem in the Philippines.
Road Safety /Motor vehicle injuries- are linked by factors related to the
roads such as the speed and volume of traffic, which can cause injuries
and prevent opportunities for healthy activity outside of the home.
