UNIT PLAN – Geography


CLASS: Form Four
UNIT: The Limestone Environment

GOALS: This unit should help student to understand the characteristics of a limestone environment. It will also encourage the understanding of the processes leading to the formation
of limestone or krast features. The students will be able to illustrate the features of a limestone envionment by drawing and labelling diagrams. They would have an
apprectiation of the uses of limestone to the human population.

RATIONALE: Students will be able to: have an awareness and understanding of the natural limestone environment of the Caribbean.  The knowledge and skills to interpret maps and
diagrams relating to limestone environments.

UNIT GENERAL OBJECTIVES: It is expected that students will:


1. Understand the processes and identify the limestone (surface and underground) features.
2. Develop an awareness and understanding of the spatial distribution of limestone or Karst regions.
3. Recognize and appreciate the value of limestone resources.
4. Propose the sustainable use of limestone areas and resources while utilizing their economic benefits.
5. Recognize and understand the dangers associated with the misuse of the limestone environment.
