1. The range of each of our inverse functions are restricted. You may remember us saying that the range for the inverse
functions for sine, cosecant and tangent are between ⇡2 and ⇡2 (with some restrictions for cosecant and tangent’s
inverses).
Similarly, the range of the inverse functions for cosine, secant, and cotangent are restricted between 0 and ⇡ (with some
restrictions for secant and cotangent).
Please sketch a simple graph of y = sin(x), and use it to explain why the range for sine’s inverse function is restricted
as mentioned.

2. Use the unit circle to find exact answers to the following. Be sure to us the range ⇡2  ✓  ⇡2 for arcsine, arctangent,
and arccosecant, and use 0  ✓  ⇡ for arcosine, arccotangent, and arcsecant. Please be able to explain why you got
the answer you did.
