MODULE No. 1
MATTER
INTRODUCTION:
You probably come across one or other forms of a mixture in your daily life. The air that you breath is
the commonest example of a mixture. The majority of substances that we see in our surrounding neighborhoods
are actually not pure substances. They are all mixture. In our homes, things that we use to make us healthy,
clean and comfortable are made up of various substances. Most materials that we use and encounter every day
are physical combinations of different substances.
Our body is made up of several elements but bones offer a proper structure. The human skeleton system
can be thought as the foundation to our appearance. This serves as the framework of our body, together with the
Muscular System, movements tend to be possible.

LESSON 1: THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
READ!
The skeletal system consists of bones that differ in size,
shape and function. It gives shape and support to our body
and protects some delicate body organs.
TYPES OF JOINTS
1. Fixed Joint- joints that makes up
the skull.
2. Gliding Joint- joints between
vertebrae.
3. Pivot Joint- joints wherein necks
bone meets bone of the head.
4. Hinge Joint- joints in our fingers.
5. Ball-and-Socket Joint- joint in
upper arm and shoulder bone.
LESSON 2:
Many times but not always, a
mixture can be physically
WAYS IN SEPARATING separated through a process in
order to select out the constituent
