LAB SHEET 1

TAJUK / TITLE: MEASURING SERIES-PARALLEL CIRCUIT OF RESISTOR
OBJEKTIF / OBJECTIVE:
1. Student will be able to measure resistance in series, parallel and combination of series
and parallel circuit.
EQUIPMENT:
PANDUAN KESELAMATAN:
1. Do not handle any equipment without reading the safety instructions. Read the
handout and procedures in the manual before starting the experiments.
2. Do your wiring, setup, and a careful circuit checkout before applying power. Do not
make circuit changes or perform any wiring when power is on.
3. Immediately report dangerous or exceptional conditions to the instructor: Equipment
that is not working as expected, wires or connectors are broken, the equipment that
smells or “smokes”. If you are not sure what the problem is or what's going on, switch
off the Emergency shutdown.
4. Never use damaged instruments, wires or connectors. Hand over these parts to the
instructor.
PROCEDURE:
1. Take three resistors. Measure the resistance of each resistor individually using the
multimeter. Record the values in Data Table 1.
2. Determine the resistance of each resistor manually by using the Resistor Color Code
Chart. Record the values in Data Table 1.
3. Then, arrange the resistors in series circuit as shown in Figure 1, and connect them
to the power supply that is set at 12 V. Record the measured values in Data Table 1.

1. Determine the total resistance as shown in Figure 2 manually by using the Resistor
Color Code Chart. Record the values in Data Table 2.
2. Then, arrange the resistors in parallel circuit as shown in Figure 2, and connect them
to the power supply that is set at 12 V. Record the measured values in Data Table 2.

2. Then, arrange the resistors in combination of series-parallel circuit as shown in
Figure 3, and connect them to the power supply that is set at 12 V. Record the
measured values in Data Table 3.
