A. Preparation

a. Review of Good morning class. Good morning sir.

Previous
Lesson How are you? We’re doing great sir.

Who’s absent today? No one is absent sir.

Are you ready for our lesson? Yes sir.

Class, can you still remember Yes sir.

our past lesson?

What was our past lesson all It’s about input and output
about? devices of a computers sir.

Very good! Now, can you give Keyboard, mouse, scanner, web
me some examples of input cam, and microphone sir.
devices?

Good! How about some Monitor, speaker, and printer sir.

examples of output devices?

Great!

b. Motivation Class, kindly settle down and put

your attention to the front as I
play this short video clip. At the
end of the video clip I will ask
you some questions.

Is that clear? Yes sir.

A video clip about parts of a computer

will be played.

After showing the video clip the teacher

will ask the students some questions.

Class, what can you say about It is about computer parts sir.
the video clip you have just
watched?

Yes, it is about parts of a

computer.
How do these parts connected to
the computer? We will find it out
in today’s lesson.

C. Presentation But before we proceed to our

lesson, I want you to read our
objectives first.

The teacher will present the objectives The students read the objectives.
and ask the students to read them.

OBJECTIVES:
 Identify different types of
peripheral devices.
 Describe the functions of
internal and external
peripherals.
 Know the different ways they
can input, output and store data
on a computer.

Okay! Now, do you have any Yes sir.

idea about our lesson today?

Good! Our topic today is about

the Peripheral Devices of a
computer.

Now, let us define some terms

as we will encounter them
throughout the discussion.

 Motherboard - The main printed circuit board in

a computer that holds and allows
communication between the
electronic components of a
computer and other peripheral
devices.

 Auxiliary devices - A piece of equipment that you

can connect to your computer
and use it.

 Peripheral device - A device used to put

information into or get
information out of the computer.

D. Comparison/ Peripheral devices are devices

Discussion that are not directly required by
the motherboard or a device not
directly built-in the motherboard.
In other words, even if these
devices are absent the computer
can function properly.

Types of peripheral devices

 Input - - Used to interact with or send data to

the computer.

 Output - - Provides output to the user from the

computer.

 Storage - - Stores data processed by the

computer.

Peripheral devices can be

internal or external.
Can you give me some - CD-ROM, CD-R, and internal
examples of internal modem sir.
peripherals?

Very good. How about - Mouse, keyboard, monitor, printer,

examples of external and scanner sir.
peripherals?

Okay. Now that you can identify

the types of peripherals, we will
now look at how they function.

In Science, particularly in the

human body, there are parts of
our body that are considered like
peripherals devices.

Can you cite some examples of The human senses are

a human body parts that are considered as input peripherals
considered as a peripheral, and sir, because they carry sight,
tell whether they carry the hearing, smell, taste, and touch
information into or out of the information into the brain. These
brain? are the eyes, ears, nose, tongue,
and skin.
The mouth and the muscles are
considered as output peripherals
sir. The mouth produces sound
and the muscles are moved by
the brain.

Excellent! Now, do you have any Yes sir.

idea how peripheral devices
function?

Give each example of an input For input peripheral device sir, a

and an output peripheral device keyboard. The keyboard inputs
and tell their function. letters, numbers, symbols,
controls, and functions to the
computer.
An example of an output
peripheral device sir is a
monitor. The monitor shows
what is happening on the
computer.
Very good.

E. Generalization What are the differences of Internal peripherals are devices

internal and external peripheral inside the computer case or
devices? chassis that are not built-in
directly to the motherboard,
while external peripherals are
auxiliary devices that exist
outside the computer chassis.

What peripherals are considered An input device is a peripheral

as an input device? used to provide data and control
signals into an information
processing system such as a
computer.

What peripherals are considered An output device is a peripheral

as an output device? that translates the digitized
signals from a computer into a
form of display, projection, or
physical reproduction.
F. Application Now class, kindly group
yourselves into two groups
because we will be having an
activity.

But before we start, I have

some rules for you to follow:
 Avoid horse playing
 Always be on task
 Observe the minimum
health safety protocols

Am I understood? Yes sir.

The teacher explains the activity. The students do the activity.

After the activity, the teacher asked

some questions to the students.

Class, what can you say about It is about the connection of input
the activity? and output of a computer, sir.

Yes, it is about the connection

of a computer from the input
devices to output devices.

How does these input and The input devices provide data
output devices interact with a into the computer while the output
computer? devices project these data from
the computer.

G. Evaluation 1. What is a peripheral device?

A. A device used to display information from the computer.
B. A device used to put information into or get information out of the computer.
C. A hand-held pointing device that detects two-dimensional motion relative to
the surface.
D. A device used to enter characters and functions into the computer system by
pressing buttons or keys.

2. Which of the following are examples of internal peripheral devices?

A. Mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
B. CD-ROM, internal modem, and video card.
C. Power supply, cooling fan, and central processing unit (CPU).
D. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

3. Which of the following are examples of external peripheral devices?

A. Mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
B. CD-ROM, internal modem, and video card.
C. Power supply, cooling fan, and central processing unit (CPU).
D. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

4. Which of the following body parts is considered as an output peripheral?

A. Nose.
B. Ears.
C. Mouth.
D. Skin.

5. What are the three general types of peripheral devices?

A. Input, output, and storage.
B. Audio, video, and printed output.
C. Internal, wired external, and wireless external.
D. Mouse, keyboard, and monitor.

Answer key:
1. B
2. B
3. A
4. C
5. A
