Google Drive

Create a folder
1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Drive app.
2. At the bottom right, tap Add +
3. Tap Folder.
4. Name the folder.
5. Tap Create.

Move a file or a folder


You can move an item from anywhere in Google Drive: the main window, the left panel, or search
results.
Note: If you move folders with a lot of files or subfolders, it might take some time for you to see the
changes.
1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Drive app.
2. Next to the file you want to copy, click More Move.
3. Choose the folder, then tap Move here.
​ To create a new folder, tap New folder .

Drag to a folder
1. On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
2. Open or create a folder.
3. To upload files and folders, drag them into the Google Drive folder.

Use Backup & Sync


1. Install the application on your computer.
2. On your computer, you'll see a folder called "Google Drive."
3. Drag files or folders into that folder. They will upload to Drive and you will see them on
=drive.google.com.

Create a shortcut
Important: You can create a copy of a shortcut in a Drive folder but you can’t create a shortcut to
another shortcut file.
1. On your computer, go to Google Drive.
2. Right click the file or folder where you want to create the shortcut.
3. Click Add shortcut to Drive.
4. Select the location where you want to place the shortcut.
5. Click Add shortcut.
Important:
​ If you make a shortcut inside a Drive folder that’s owned by someone else, you can’t delete
the shortcut.
​ You can't create a shortcut to another shortcut file, but you can make a copy of it.
​ You can also make a copy of a folder shortcut.

Delete a shortcut
Important:
​ You can delete a shortcut, but you can’t delete the original file, or a file you don’t own. The
shortcut's owner can delete the shortcut, but the target file can only be deleted by the file's
owner.
​ If you don’t have permission, you may not be able to delete a file or folder.
1. On your computer, go to Google Drive.
2. Right click the shortcut you want to remove.
3. Click Remove.
4. To permanently remove the shortcut, delete it from your trash.
● On the left, click Trash.
● ​Right click the shortcut you want to delete Delete forever .

Copy and Delete File


To make a copy of a file, go to drive.google.com on a computer.
1. On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
2. Right-click a file.
3. Click Make a copy .
Notes:
1. You can’t copy folders, only files.
2. You can create a shortcut to a folder to find it easier.

To delete a File
3. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Drive app.
4. Next to the file you want to delete, click More .
5. Tap Remove.
If you accidentally put an item in the trash, you can restore your item.

Change the colour of your folder


1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Drive app.
2. Next to the folder you want to change, tap More Change color.
3. Choose the color you want.
Share files from Google Drive
Step 1: Find the file you want to share
Share a single file
1. On a computer, go to Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, or Slides.
2. Click the file you want to share.
3. Click Share or Share .
Share multiple files
1. On a computer, go to drive.google.com.
2. On your keyboard, hold Shift and select two or more files.
3. At the top right, click Share .

Step 2: Choose who to share with & how they can use your file
Share with specific people
1. Select the file you want to share.
2. Click Share or Share .
3. Under "Share with people and groups," enter the email address you want to share with.
​ Important: If you share with an email address that isn’t a Google Account, they can
only view the file.
4. To change what people can do to your doc, on the right, click the Down arrow Viewer,
Commenter, or Editor.
5. Choose to notify people.
​ If you want to notify people that you shared a doc with them, check the box next to
Notify people. If you notify people, each email address you enter will be included in
the email.
​ If you don't want to notify people, uncheck the box.
6. Click Share or Send.
Share a link to the file
You can send other people a link to your file so anyone with the link can use it. When you share a link
to a file, your name will be visible as the owner of the file.
1. Select the file you want to share.
2. Click Share or Share Get link.
3. Under “Get Link”, click the Down arrow .
4. Choose who to share the file with.
5. To decide what people can do with your file when you share it, select Viewer, Commenter, or
Editor.

6. Click Copy link Done.
7. Copy and paste the link in an email or any place you want to share it.
Share a file publicly
1. Select the file you want to share.
2. Click Share or Share Get link.
3. Under “Get Link,” click Change to anyone with link.
4. To decide what people can do with your public link when you share it, select Viewer,
Commenter, or Editor.
5. Click Done.
6. Copy and paste the link in an email or any place you want to share it.
People who aren't signed in to a Google Account show up as anonymous animals in your file. Learn
more about anonymous animals.

Convert documents into Google formats


If you want to upload files like Microsoft Word documents, you can change a setting to convert files.

Note: You can only change Google Drive settings from your computer.

1. Using a computer, go to drive.google.com/drive/settings.


2. Next to "Convert Uploads," check the box.

Upload files with the same name


If you upload a file with the same name, Google Drive will upload the file as a revision of the file
already in Google Drive.

To keep both files:

1. On your computer, go to drive.google.com.


2. Upload a file.
3. Click Keep as separate file.

Save items or webpages
1. On your computer, open Google Chrome.
2. Open a webpage with content you want to save.
​ Save a link, image, HTML5 audio, or video: Right-click on the item to save and click
Save [item] to Google Drive.
​ Save the webpage: In the top right, click Google Drive .
