COURSE SYLLABUS

SUBJECT : Writing for General Purposes 2

SEMESTER : II

MEETING : 1 to 16

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to provide basic theory and practice on witing. The writing skills cover
the mastery of sentence patterns and building paragraphs including the basics of writing such as
punctuations, usage, diction, and organization.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, students are expected:

a) To have basic theories on writing.

b) To be able to build simple sentences, compound, complex, and compound-complex


sentences.

c) To be able apply appropriate punctuations, usage and diction in writing sentences.

d) To be able to write a good paragraph consisting of s topic sentence, supporting sentences,


and a concluding sentence.

Prerequisite: Writing for General Purposes 1

EVALUATION

Evaluation will be based on the following components:


a. Class attendance and participation = ≤ 75%
(students with less than 75% attendance are not eligible to take the exams
b. Assignments = 20%
c. A midterm test = 30%
d. A final test = 50%

Grading:
86 – 100 =A
71 – 85 =B
56 – 70 =C
40 – 55 =D
<40 =E
