PSYCHOLOGY ASSIGNMENT

APRIL 26,202

SUBMITED TO.
Discusses the implication of the enforcement and
punishment in business setting

Before I menschen the implication of the given topic let me define from the given
assignment.
REINFORCEMENT – is define as anything that increase the strength of the response and
also induces repetitions of the behavior that preceded the reinforcement.
Positive and negative reinforcement are two types of reinforcement.

Positive reinforcement- is anything that strength and increases behavior by the

presentation of desirable consequence.
Example;- Giving a bonus for high productivity
- Giving award for intelligent person

Negative reinforcement- is anything that strength and increases behavior by the

withdrawal or removal of unpleasant consequence.
Example;- An employee has not been meeting deadlines

PUNISHMENT – is the act of causing an unpleasant consequence to response to prevent

the person from repeating that behavior.

Example;- when a parent is not pleased with the behavior or action of their child.
-A Man breaks a law and becomes a target of justice.

INFORCEMENT IN BUSINESS SETTING

A managers or owners who are making attempt to motivate the employees
must ensure that they do not reward all employees simultaneously.
Reinforcement suggests that individuals, can choose from several responses to
a given stimulus, and that individuals will generally select the response that
has been associated with positive outcome in the past.

Example i ;- A Salesperson that exert extra effort to meet a sale quota or

behavior and is then rewarded with a bonus the reinforcer should make
it more likely that the salesperson will continue to exert the necessary
effort in the future.
Example ii - When some one create new thing or introduce new product to
The market the person who create or introduce new thing must
be motivated or encouraged, to continue.
But not only enforcement important to business, also punishment is necessary
to business.
PUNISHMENT IN BUSINESS SETTING
Its purpose is to reduce unwanted behavior, it also response to prevent the
person from repeating unpleasant behavior.

Example ;- Getting a warning for reporting late to work is a punishment that

is imposed on staff who does not come to work on time.
Not only staff or manager, some one who is doing wrong activity must be
punished. Simply we can take our family when a children do unwanted or
wrong action they punished.
COCLUSION
Generally both enforcement and punishment are important and co-existence
in business setting.
If some one do good thing or important work, we have to motivate /
appreciate/ her/him. If is not we punish to stop his/her wrong action.
For a Managers, the reinforcement can be an effective tool to give positive
reinforcement to their star performance and negative reinforcement to poor
performance.
Also, it may come in hand to punish bad behavior and extinguish unwanted
behavior. Since it is difficult to find a motivation system that work for all
employees this theory due to its focus on employee behavior and performance
is good for managing a diverse group to achieve the desired result.
