    Our community has a mixed economy. It has elements of both a market economy and a command economy as some goods and services are provided by private businesses and consumers drive demand, while other industries like utilities are state-owned and regulated. Overall most aspects of production and consumption are determined by supply and demand forces in the private market, but the government still plays a role, so it can best be described as a mixed economy.
