III. ACCOMPLISHMENT

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in schools (WINS) is a program that focuses
on the promotion of clean and safe school environment and correct hygiene and sanitation
practices among learners, and that is implemented side by side with the Essential health
care program. Deworming, and other related school health projects of DepEd.

In response to the program the Danlag National High School had took part during
the Oplan Kalusugan featuring the five major school health programs of the Department.
Focal person, Medical personnel, School officials, stakeholders and students had attended
the said event.

The school conducted orientation to the teachers, parent and other stakeholders. The
purpose is to enhance stakeholder’s involvement and mobilize local resources. With this the
school needs discussed and solutions/recommendation were noted for the realization of the
projects.

One of the main problem of the school is water connection, and with the help of PTA
fund, connections to every comfort room is now available. Another problem was the waste
management. The school had to take a slice from the MOOE to rehabilitate the waste
dumping site and was already functional for all grade levels to use with the observance of
proper waste segregation.

Deworming was done semi-annually with the presence of the school nurse in
coordination with the DOH, and parent’s consent. As based on the record, more less 90% of
the pupils were dewormed. The school nurse also conducted health orientation to all grade
levels.

IV. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED
