ST. JOHN’S PICNIC (August 15) NOTES

ST. JAMES “MINI FEST”
SUNDAY (August 8) - 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
St. James will host a picnic this year (called the “St. James
Mini Fest”) on Sunday, August 8.
Festivities will start on the grounds after the 9:30 AM Mass
and will conclude at 2:00 PM with the big raffle drawing.
There will NOT be a dinner this year, but we will have hot
ham sandwiches, hamburgers and brats and beverages. The
big tent will be set up and under that we will have kids’ games,
adult games, pull tabs and the silent auction. Additionally, we
will have a bake sale on the grounds.
MISSION APPEAL
On the weekend of July 17-18, Fr. Wawan, S.X. from the
Xaverian Missionaries in Franklin, WI will conduct the Diocese
of Madison Mission Co-op appeal at St. James, Neshkoro and
St. John’s, Princeton. Fr. Wawan was born and grew up in
Indonesia as part of a Buddhist Family. The loss of his younger
sister touched him and his family to convert to Christianity. He
graduated from the Catholic Theological Union (Chicago, IL) in
2007 and was sent as a missionary to Taiwan-China and came
back to the U.S. in July 2018 to broaden knowledge and
understanding of mental illness. Being exclusively a foreign
mission society, the Xaverian Fathers and Brothers depend
greatly on proceeds from this collection.
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE SHRINE PROGRAM
FRIDAY (July 30) – 10:30 AM TO 11:30 AM
409 W. Prairie Street, Endeavor, WI
For the first time in 60 years, Sister Joeann Daley and Kathleen
Stagney (artists & creators of the Our Lady of Guadalupe
mosaic) will travel to Endeavor to view their early work and share
with us the history behind the humble, yet captivating shrine to
Our Lady of Guadalupe (located behind the Guadalupe Center).
The program begins promptly with the arrival of Sister Joeann
and Kathleen at 10:30 AM. Father Grubba will talk about the
restoration of this respite for spiritual reflection and preservation
of Wisconsin history. Guests are encouraged to bring a foldup
chair. Attendance is free.
Dinner and Raffle tickets are available in the back of the
church. Dinner is $15 per person and Raffle tickets are $5 for
one or $20 for 5. One of the items is a John Deere Gator!
The Grand Prize for the raffle (John Deere Gator) has arrived
and we need your help to show it off! The Gator definitely draws
people’s attention and helps sell tickets, so we want to display it
at each Mass, the Flea Market, Piggly Wiggly, American Legion
Brat Fry, and area events, but we need people to help transport
it there and sell tickets. Dave Golz has volunteered his trailer,
so it is all set to go. If you are interested in helping out (even
one time), or have ideas of locations to set up, contact
Dave (920-260-1559).
Dave is also working on the Online Auction along with
John Hayashi. Presently, they have Badger and Packers sport
packages, a Milwaukee vacation, golf outings, pheasant hunt
and an antique desk, but it would be great to add more items.
These can be actual items to gift certificates and range from $50
up to $100+. If you would like to contribute or know a business
that would like to help, call Dave by July 15th.
We can accomplish so much more if everyone gives a little
help!
