ST.

JAMES PARISH AND FINANCE COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES


March 13, 2024

The meeting was called to order by President, Pat Kier, at 12:24 PM. Council members in
attendance were: Father John Silva, Pat Klier, Arlene Bodoh, Jack Nation, Peter Zopf,
and Steve Schultz (via phone); Trustees, Jay Johnson and Joyce Pindel; Guest, Amanda
Schroeder, Financial Consultant.

Father Silva offered an opening prayer.

Secretary’s Report – Minutes of the Council meeting from January 31, 2024 were
approved electronically and filed. Electronic voting approvals since our last meeting
include approvals to pay for Camp Gray summer camp, All Saints tuition assistance, and
college scholarships.

Correspondence – No report given.

Treasurer’s Report – Amanda Schroeder provided the statement of activity. The


offertory revenue trend for the past 7 months was discussed. Amanda shared the trend
was similar across other parishes in Pastorate 10. A Motion was made by Jack Nation and
seconded by Arlene Bodoh to approve the Treasurer’s report. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Building and Maintenance – The rear door on north side of the building has been
changed to an emergency exit. Shelving was also relocated to the main entrance.

Religious Education – We have 5 people coming into the Pastorate. There are
90 people who signed up for scripture studies. 60 people attended the Eucharistic series
presentation between Princeton and Berlin. First Confession and First Communion are
operating on a rotating basis between St. James and St. John’s. Confirmation is upcoming
this Spring. The Camp Gray retreat just took place for 45-50 kids in Baraboo. The Lenten
Mission was well attended – about 110 to 130 at All Saints. Our guest speaker, Judy Hehr,
did an outstanding job.

Council of Catholic Women – Pat Klier passed along kudos for a job well done with
the recent funeral.

Liturgy - No report given.

Music – We are waiting for the engineering to be completed before the new sound system
can be installed.

Food for the Needy – No report given.

OLD BUSINESS:
Statue restoration and changes in the old church: Chris Goulet from St. John’s in
Princeton volunteered to repaint the stand that the statues sit upon. Father John expects
the statues and the Corpus to be returned by Easter.

150th anniversary planning: The next meeting will be at St. James on March 18th at
6:00 PM. Michelle Wolff from All Saints is coming. 75 volunteers have already signed
up. Some highlights of the weeklong celebration are below:

• August 3rd -- 5:15 PM Community Choir performance.


• August 4th -- 5:00 PM Benediction and Adoration in the small church.
• August 8th -- Tent set up.
• August 9th -- Set up outside booths and tables.
• August 10th -- Rosary in the small church.
• August 11th -- Bishop Hying will concelebrate the Mass with Father John Silva and
Father Grubba. Picnic to follow. Come visit the petting zoo. Listen to music
provided by Phat Acrobat. Congressman Glenn Grothman is planning to stop by.
• August 12th -- Cleanup day.
• A family pictorial directory is being planned for May or June.

NEW BUSINESS:
Mass at 12:15 PM for Good Friday at All Saints and St. John’s. If transportation presents
an issue, please contact the parish office for car-pooling assistance.

Father Silva closed the meeting with a prayer.
