Q.1. a) Explain in brief with the help of sketch the function of the following aircraft structural
components:
1- Wing Skin 2- Stringers 3- Spar Caps
b) What are the main parameters or criteria’s considered in the selection of the aircraft
materials?
c) Define the load factor, and what do you mean by maneuver flight envelope (with the
help of sketch) and why it is important in any structural design process?

Q.2. A beam having the cross-section details shown in figure 1 is subjected to bending moments in
a vertical and horizontal planes (clockwise), -2000 Nm and 1000 Nm respectively. Calculate
and identify the point of maximum direct stress due to bending about neutral axis and why.
