CONT933 Module 2 Culminating Task

PART 1: Reflect on the SAMR Model

Think about a lesson that you’ve created or that you will create in the near future.

If you could use a technology tool to further the learning of your student, what would it look like? Sound
like? Feel like … for the student and for you?

When and how could you move that lesson to the next level of learning?

Activity Name: Finding Factors

Grade Level: Grade 4

Curriculum Content Development of computational fluency and multiplicative thinking

(Mathematics): requires analysis of patterns and relations in multiplication

Curriculum Content Use of document camera

(Technology):

Level on SAMR Model: Substitution

Description of Original Activity (point-form or sentences):

Review Academic Vocabulary- use the words in meaningful context, repetition,

personalize (students use word in sentence to show understanding). Vocabulary
is shown on document camera.
Review finding factors for various numbers displayed on document camera.
Students write responses on desk with whiteboard marker.
Students complete handouts
PART 2: Now re-create part of the lesson (from Part 1) to reflect a change on the SAMR Model:

Curriculum Content No change

(Mathematics):

Curriculum Content Review vocabulary using KaHoot on the ipads

(Technology):
Youtube video reinforcing vocabulary and finding common factors

NEW Level on SAMR: Modification

Description of New Activity (point-form or sentences):

Students review academic vocabulary through interactive quiz using KaHoot.

Prior to finding common factors, students watch a video showing a strategy for finding the common
factors and then practice it with numbers shown over the document camera

How did you use the SAMR model to enhance this activity? (write a short paragraph)

I took the students love of competition and put it into a timed quiz for practicing and recalling the
mathematical terminology for this unit. The students were engaged and if a student needed support, a
peer was there to help them. Watching the video, helped the students with a visual (and another voice)
to support the concept being taught. The students easily followed along with the steps in the video and
were able to transfer what they learned into practice.
