COURSE GUIDE:

I. Course Title: Religious Education and Values Education 12b: LIVING A CHRISTIAN
MORAL LIFE

II. Course Overview

A. Introduction
Our course, as referred to the CICM book for Grade 12 - second semester, our main
reference, is entitled, “Living A Christian Moral Life”. The introduction of the CICM book, which
shall be considered as your preliminary reading, would give you a wider understanding on the
following questions that matter on the background of what our course is all about: (A.) “What is
the Religious Education in Catholic/Christian Schools? What is the CICM Religious Education
Pedagogy?”; (B.) “What is the CICM-RP Province’s Vision and Mission of Education?”; and (C)
“What is the overview of Religious Education 12b?”
In particular, the big question revolving in this whole course is, “How to live a moral life in
the light of our Christian virtues? This will lead us to reflect on our actions and behaviors in the
light of the norms of morality and how theses actions can be affected by certain factors which
may increase or diminish moral responsibility. It takes a closer look into our certain actions
which, done repetitively, develop into habits that are considered either as virtues or vices.
Through this, the course will give you a taste of moral theology. Whereas you will be guided with
the three modules based from the content of our main reference:
1. Module 1 explores the understanding of the concepts of morality and to unlearn
some common misconceptions. It will help you to see the human acts as the main
objects of morality. With this, you will also discover that hindrance in living a moral
life is present which either reduce or modify the nature of their moral actions.
2. Module 2 elaborates deeply on how you live as a moral being. You are to reflect
what actions you must take as a person gifted with intellect and free will aided by
one’s conscience. With the correct use of our freedom and reason, we become the
person God wants us to be. On the other hand, we commit sin, thus, turning away
from God.
3. Module 3 expounds on how to be a learner or a follower of Christ. It is in becoming a
disciple or a follower of Christ that our moral life will grow. Learning and following the
Jesus’ life, stories and teachings will lead us to reflect on how to be fully human
being.

With the use of this distance learning modality, you shall be encountering some
modifications in the presentation of the lessons, which you need to be aware of for you to be
simply directed with; specifically, on the transition of the lessons per unit from the CICM book to
the units per module, and the incorporation of the CICM Pedagogy to the 5E’s Model as
manifested in the modules. This is due to the synchronization of the module format being used
SLU-wide.
May this course develop and guide you on your journey to Religious and Values
Education formation. Good luck and God bless!

conscious of your study schedule and always remind yourself of deadlines.
2. Focus your attention. Make sure that you do things one at a time.
Read each material over and over until you are able to get the gist of the lesson.
3. Owe it to yourself. In doing the assessment tasks, whether formative or summative,
target the highest standards because you are a better learner. You have the knowledge
and skills needed to finish a quality work.
4. Work independently. It is expected that you work on the modules on your own. You
can ask help from others but do your best first.
5. Answer confidently. You are encouraged to dutifully follow instructions. You can
answer more confidently when you know that you are following instructions.

this subject will definitely be of help in your life and future plans. Enjoy what you do and
everything else will follow.
7. Submit on time. Before the end of the first grading (midterms) and the second grading
(finals) periods, you will be submitting the accomplished activities in the modules through
correspondence. Once your outputs will be received, you will be informed immediately.

IV. Evaluation
Formative Assessment
Self-assessments and Enrichment Activities
There will be self-assessment activities and enrichment activities to be given in
this course. These shall be inclusive in any of the modules. The scores obtained may
not be part of your quarterly grades, but they will be part of the completion requirement
of the subject. Thus, you are expected to answer completely the activities. These will
help you determine if you need to study more or to advance to the next module.
Summative Assessment
A. Written Works
There will be three (3) quizzes under written works which you need to
accomplish, following the assigned schedule as stated in the Study Schedule. As to the
due date of submission: please follow the schedule as is and do it through the Genyo-
Online learning management system. In case you were not able to answer the
assessmtents on the said date due to valid reason, please feel free to contact me.

B. Performance Checks/Tasks
There will be three (3) performance checks/tasks (PT) per grading which you
need to accomplish. Thus, you shall be doing six (6) PT’s for this semester. Two of
these are almost the same and considered to be the performance check in every
grading. This is about your Weekly Spiritual Journal, which is similar to what you had
done when you were in G11. This aims to instill in you as lay young to embrace the
importance of reflection on your celebrations that matter the development of your
spiritual nourishment as it should be manifested in and through your humanly actions.
Pursuant to the goal of the course, this kind of PT becomes essential in your growth to
be a Christian Moral agent. Whereas, the output in your culminating performance task,
as your last PT, would generally determine whether you have successfully applied the
essential lessons you are supposed to undergo through this course. Thus, you need to
take these things seriously with a missionary heart and finish it according to the
prescribed schedule. I allotted a week or more for you to accomplish your PT with a
quality output, as expected. Please refer to the V. Additional Reminders/Guidelines
regarding the instruction, mechanics, criteria and/or rubrics for every PT.

C. Examinations
There will be quarterly examinations to be given in this course. The scope of
exam for the first grading is Module 1 and 2, while the second grading is Module 3. You
