Reflection on Individual/LAC Group Presentation on Unpacking of a Sample

MELC

The education sector is not spared from the COVID-19 pandemic which continues to gravely
affect various governments and economies around the world. The current global health crisis poses a
profound impact on the basic education system, as approximately 87% of the world’s student
population, or 1.5 billion learners, have been affected by school closures (UNESCO, 2020). While interim
distance and remote learning programs are being put in place in many locations, the most marginalized,
poverty-stricken and vulnerable children are also the most disadvantaged. Working on the said premise,
the Department came up with the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) to be used nationwide
by field implementers for SY 2020-2021.

As a LAC Leader I checked the presentation of each member on Unpacking of a Sample MELCs.
Each members unpacked MELCs in order to accommodate the varying contexts of learners, teachers,
learning environment and support structures considering both the content and performance standards.
It is advantageous for students to learn the concepts and skills in the MELCs through meaningful
activities and scenarios relatable to them and within the context of the students’ own environment. The
MELCs are implementable as long as the designed activities also teach the procedures and processes on
how and when to apply those knowledge and skills in a given context. With these, Filipino learners are
guaranteed relevant and quality basic education despite the current health crisis.

Reflection: List of targeted learning interventions + Learning tasks for DL +

Assessment methods in DL

This Module focuses on how lessons and assessments are designed for the distance learning
modality prescribed by the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (LCP). Each member will be able to
differentiate between the learning delivery modalities prescribed by the LCP and between the different
types of distance learning modalities, apply lesson design and assessment considerations for distance
learning in light of the COVID-19 crisis ,create a weekly home learning plan to guide your learners as
they do independent study at home and create an individual learning monitoring plan to keep track of
the progress of learners who lag behind in completing the prescribed learning tasks. The key concepts of
this task are blended distance learning; blended learning; distance learning; face-to-face learning; home
schooling; implementation guidelines for distance learning; minimum requirements for distance
learning; modular distance learning; online distance learning; TV-based instruction/radio-based
instruction.
The LCP assures that all possible measures will be taken to ensure that no child will be excluded
from learning during the COVID-19 crisis. The teachers described what targeted interventions they
develop and listed them on the targeted intervention.

Reflection: Weekly Home Learning Plan for 1 Subject

The components of a Weekly Home Learning Plan (WHLP), are, the learning area, learning tasks,
learning competencies, and the mode of delivery. The WHLP serves as a guide for your learners on what
they need to accomplish each week when they do independent study at home (DepEd, 2020). It outlines
the learning tasks that learners need to do, using the SLM, in order for them to attain the most essential
learning competencies (MELCs). All the teachers has done making their Weekly Home Learning Plan for
the students to trains learners to take responsibility for their own learning as they follow the prescribed
schedule in the plan. Remember also that part of guiding learners is to give enhancement or
remediation activities when needed and when possible.

Reflection: Individual Learning Monitoring Plan for a student who lags behind in
completing the learning tasks

In this activity on LDM Module 3A Learning Monitoring Plan is for monitoring the progress of
your learners, it is important to get in touch with the household partner who provides assistance as
needed while the learner is doing the learning tasks at home. We’re not able to monitor learners
because classes are yet started. But all the teachers are done making sample of their Learning
Monitoring Plan for the Students as their guides if ever the class started.

Reflection: Two (2) accomplished LR Rapid Assessment Tools with reflections

This Module it help us refresh your knowledge on the different types of resources
available for you in the different LDMs, show how you can access these materials, and
introduce a method of rapidly assessing them before use. The DepEd Memorandum on
Suggested Strategies in Implementing LDMs for SY 2020-2021 included the Learning Resources
(LR) Map as a guide in selecting the appropriate Distance LDM to be implemented in
Schools/Divisions. In this module it is important to pick the appropriate LR for your lesson and
learners.

Reflection: Finalized LDM Individual Development Plan (produced after discussion

during LAC)

Learning is a continuous process. There are still a lot of things that we can improve on in our
jobs as teachers, even as we go through this pandemic. We planned for our continuous professional
development (PD) in the new LDMs that School has adopted. In this session, we come up with a realistic
plan for our continuing PD that responds to our identified need in relation to the content and pedagogy
of the learning area/s we are teaching using the LDM. The key concepts in this module are professional
development and professional life.
