BACKGROUND
A few years ago, Julian inherited the family business, which is dedicated to
growing and selling fruits and vegetables in Andalusia, southern Spain. At first,
he followed the guidelines with which the company's operations had been
directed, but little by little he introduced the sale of eco-friendly fruit and
vegetable baskets online in his region. When it gained popularity, he expanded
its commerce to all Spain, even making some sporadic shipments of baskets to
France and Italy.
The boom that the company has experienced and the demand for its baskets
abroad have made Julian decide to launch his business in the international field.
However, he does not know how to do it and what aspects he should consider,
besides not being very clear which country or countries to start his expansion in.
For this purpose, he has come to you for professional advice on different topics
related to international trade.
DEVELOP
1. At the beginning of any internationalization process of a business, it is
essential to carry out a self-assessment to determine the competitive
advantages of the company. To this end, conduct a self-assessment of
Julian's company to detect the favourable and unfavourable aspects,
both internally and externally, and name at least two competitive
advantages that are guarantees of success.
2. Julian does not know which markets can be more favourable for him to
develop his business in. What agencies would you go to obtain

information about the different countries, their conditions, aid and
policies? Name a minimum of three organisms and justify your choice.
6. Would Julian receive any kind of aid from the Government and the
European Community regarding the products he markets?
