(Grade 7 - Mooncat)

Content Standard:

 Demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sets and the real number system.

Performance Standard:

 Is able to formulate challenging situations involving sets and real numbers and solve these in a
variety of strategies.

Learning Competencies:

 Describes principal roots and tells whether they are rational or irrational.
 Determines between what two integers the square root of a number is.

Transfer Goal:

 The students on their own and in the long run will be able to perform independently the
knowledge and skills about the concept of square root and how it use in different real-life
scenarios.

Essential Questions:

1. What is a square root?

2. Why is it important to know how to get the square root without using a calculator?
3. How to locate square roots on a number line?
4. What kind of real numbers perfect squares and imperfect squares represents?

Enduring Understanding:

The student will be able to understand that square root are useful in real-life, square root can be solve
manually to further understand the concept of square root, square can locate and plot using a number line,
and square roots of perfect squares and imperfect squares represents two different sets of real numbers.
