1. Title
Make sure our title gives reviewer a general sense of what you are investigating. (Use common
word instead of too many technical words)
Good Example
eg: "Understanding the role anti-cell death protein BNIP3 plays in brain cancers"
Bad Example
eg: "Determining the mechanism of action of Bcl-2 family members in regulating
apoptotic signaling complexes within the mitochondria leading to a cure in cancers"
Too many technical words and long.
1. Referees
In international, we can choose referees, but we can't in Indonesia.
a. Choose referees in your field of research
b. Choose a scientist/colleague that will be objective but not too critical to the science.
c. Do not choose close collaborators
d. Do not choose competitors in tour field with divergent views.
e. Do not choose the top scientist in your field since they will not respond and will be too
critical in general.
2. Co-applicant
If you think your track record is not good enough, choose your co-applicant carefully
a. This could be strength if you are a junior investigator with a limited track record
b. If the investigator lack of specific skills, a co-applicant can bring it to research project
3. Budget
a. Give detailed account where you will be spending the money
b. Approximately one third of the budget should go to supplies

a. List all awards especially awards directly related to your research
b. List all publication in last 5 years.
Tips:
a. Read Guideline carefully before starting the proposal
b. Try to connect the past, your present research, and the future impact of your research.
c. Do Literature Review, consist of:
i. The importance of the question asked
ii. Current status of the topic
iii. Relationship between the literature and problem statement
iv. Summary
