Highlights of the activity The Caniogan Elementary School (CES)
conducted the Virtual Parents’ Orientation on Girl
Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Membership/
Registration for year 2021 on May 8, 2021, Saturday via
Google Meet. It was done in compliance to Council
Memorandum No. 2 of Bulacan Girl Scout Council dated
November 25, 2020. The GSP leaders of CES, together
with other teachers, invited the parents and school girls
to participate in this orientation virtually to give them a
brief background of GSP, to inform them on the
procedure on registration and the benefits of being a
member of one of the active youth movement in over a
hundred countries.
The GSP school coordinator, Catherine S.
Mendoza headed the orientation with the cooperation
and support from the school principal, Marichu C.
Manaloto, the GSP leaders (Edna M. Mustacisa, Ma.
Corazon D. Natividad, Jennifer M. Manalo, Clarine Jane
C. Nunez, Filipinas C. Cruz, Denice Christine C. De
Jesus, Ma. Regina S. Martin, Josefina B. Chungtuyco,
Evelyn L. Clemente, Soledad S. Crisostomo, Victoria T.
Perol, Iraida P. Gonzales, and Sarah Joy C. Santos) and
other teachers. The topics discussed were the following:
what is girl scouting, its purpose, activities/projects,
who are eligible to join, uniform, membership policies,
categories of membership, barangay committee, troop
leaders, benefits of membership, registration fee,

membership, mutual assistance fund, and procedure of

registration.
After the orientation, the campaign continued in
FB Messenger Group Chat of every grade and section
with the help of teacher-advisers. The parents and
school girls were interested and eager to join the girl
scouting even if the activities are just home-based. They
believe that pandemic won’t stop us on providing a
program of fun and challenging activities for girls that
would help them develop into well-rounded individuals,
strong decision-makers and future leaders. Aside from
the benefits they would get from the institution, they are
willing to contribute to the programs and services of the
Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
Some parents accessed the link for registration
online and sent their payment thru GCash to the school
coordinator; some also registered and paid personally
during the scheduled distribution and retrieval of
modules.
