1. To increase level of understanding and sensitivity of teachers on gender

concepts and issues especially on the agents of Gender Socialization;

VI. RATIONALE:

The Department of Education (DepEd) is advocating and campaigning for the promotion
of gender equality and social mobilization for GAD programs and projects. Pursuant thereof
and in consonance in Executive Order 273 known as “Approving and Adopting the Philippines
Plan for Gender Responsive Development”, Cato National High School as part of DepEd SDO
Pangasinan I shall have its development program for teachers to recognize their special role in
nation building particularly in terms of education.

In connection with this, Cato National High School in association with the Annual
Conduct of GAD Program and Activities aims to update teachers with GAD Concepts and
issues prevalent in the workplace, society, and media. The school through its GAD Focal
Persons initiate “Gender Equality in the Workplace, Personnel Welfare and Career Development
cum Team Building”, to increase the gender and development awareness of teachers. It will
encourage the application of gender and development concepts to the teaching-learning process
and motivate students to be more gender sensitive thus improving the culture and social
interactions within the school premises. The training will also be a channel to focus on the
personal, and professional welfare of teachers and other school personnel motivating them to
pursue professional development and career opportunities without gender-biases. Moreover,
the event includes the conduct of team building activities to promote good camaraderie and
positive workplace relationship among the teachers and other school personnel.

VII. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this activity, the participants should be able to:

1. To increase level of understanding and sensitivity of teachers on gender
concepts
and issues especially on the agents of Gender Socialization;
2. To disseminate information related to Gender and Development;
3. To encourage gender equality in the workplace;
4. To maintain physically fit / healthy personnel and strengthen camaraderie/good
relationship with peers.
