CHAPTER 6

Jose Rizal climbed up through his studies and eventually made a name for
himself. He succeeded and earned education through his competence and
determination. When he finished his 4-year medicine degree in the University of Sto.
Tomas, he experienced another oppression form Dominican friars and officials. The
growing discrimination to Filipinos disgusts Rizal. He was determined to study the
problem and he took journey in Spain. Rizal is bold, and an icon of determination and
perseverance.

Youth nowadays should learn from Rizal a lot. Rizal was bold enough to conquer
new culture, and people. He studied abroad and continued his fight and dreams. He
acquired degree in Philosophy and Letters, and became qualified to teach or become a
professor in Humanities in any Spanish universities. In addition, he received his degree
also in Medicine and became a licensed Physician there.

Rizal was a reactivated youth, he joined student demonstrations when he was


studying. Nowadays, student activism is a thing. It propagates in different campuses in
our country. It sends strong message of advocacies and what they are fighting for.
Sometimes, the cause fire to start a revolutionize idea that will change the system. It is
really a Rizal thing; he will be called hero for nothing. According to some, youth are
back bone to the nation. They can change the future of the society with their wellbeing,
plucky and courageous behavior. We, the youth, with regards with facing the problems
we have today should be done by a centered and powerful guidance, providing activities
that will make us realize the real essence of being a youth and of course the teaching of
what is really right and what is really essential and precious with our nation.

We must all prove and show the older generation what they were saying were
wrongs and misjudgments; we should aware them we have the intelligence, the abilities
and the skills. We have to show them what we are made of. In every journey there will
always be a challenge, this challenge is never been identified by its hardness, we, the
youth, are the one making it harder because we think, it’s hard, but if we are going to
open our mind and make this challenge a stepping stone maybe we can survive, prove
something to ourselves and be proud that we succeed. You might be surprised at how

proud of yourself you become with even the smallest of accomplishments. Rizal died for
a reason, and we are with it. We must relive that it is true, that Youth is the hope.
