plant with a capacity of 2 t/h finished detergent powder.

1. Scope of Delivery

Process equipment, electric equipment, control and instrumentation, and


engineering & know-how.

2. Capacity

The said plant is to yield two (2) metric tons per hour of detergent powder based
on working 8 hours a shift, 3 shifts per day and 300 working days per year.

3. Delivery Time
100 (HUNDRED) days since reception of L/C.

4. Price

The Total Contract Price of Seller’s Supply is in FOB USD810,

APPENDIX B

TECHINICAL DESCRIPTION

B.1 General

This is a semi-automatic detergent powder plant using sulfonic acid as main


raw material to produce anionic detergent powder of specified formulation.

The plant is composed of Tank Farm (Section 100), Slurry Preparation (Section

200), Slurry Transfer (Section 300), Spray Drying (Section 400), and Post
Blending (Section 500).

B.2 Process description

B.2.1 Tank Farm (Section 100)(Buyer’s supply)

Dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid bought from outside, packed in drums, is


unloaded into Sulfonic Acid Unloading Tank (101) manually, then pumped to
Sulfonic Acid Tank (103) by Sulfonic Acid Pump (102). Caustic soda solution
from tank truck is unloaded into Caustic Soda Unloading Tank (107) then
pumped to Caustic Soda Tank (109) by Caustic Pump (108). Sodium silicate in
liquid form in charged to Silicate Unloading Tank (104) then to Silicate Tank
(106) by Silicate Pump (105). Diesel oil is unloaded into Fuel Tank (110), and by
Fuel Pump (111) sent to Spray Drying (Section 400).

B.2.2 Slurry Preparation (Section 200)

Sulfonic acid comes by Sulfonic Acid Pump (213) into Head Tank (204), and
then is dosed in Weighing Hopper for Sulfonic Acid (206), while caustic soda,
process water and silicate come into their respective head tank (203,201 and
202), by respective pumps, and are dosed in Weighing Hopper for Liquids
(205).

The sulfonic acid is neutralized by caustic soda in Crutcher (207), equipped with
powerful agitator. The reaction results in forming sodium alkybenzene solfonate
(active matter). The two crutchers work alternatively.

Solid materials, such as STPP (sodium tripolyphosphate), sodium carbonate,


and sodium sulfate, CMC in bags are transported to workshop and lifted by
Motor Hoist (214), moving along overhead rail, up to 3 rd floor where they are
feed through duct manually and by gravity fall into the Crutcher (207) already
loaded with other feed materials.

The contents are subject to mixing and heating. The slurry then flows by gravity
through Mechanical Filter (208) and Magnetic Filter (209), then to the Aging
Tank (210), where it is aged and homogenized, ready to be spray dried.

B 2.3 Slurry Transfer (Section 300)

The slurry is further homogenized in Homogenizing Pump (301), and then


comes into High-Pressure Pump (302). By the pump the detergent slurry is
transferred to the spray jets in the Spray Drying Section.

The recovered slurry is sent back to Crutcher (207) by Pump (305).

There are two sets of Homogenizing Pump and High Pressure Pump; when
one is in operation the other set is in stand-by. The above mention sets have
Mono-Pump (306) for each; the mono-pump is act as a booster pump to raise
the working efficiency of the homogenizing pump.

There are Surge Cylinders (303 A/B) to smooth off the pressure pulsation.

B.2.4 Spray Drying (Section 400)

The slurry is dried in the Spray Drying Tower (402) by hot air, which is
prepared in the Hot Air Generator (407). Burner burning diesel oil is used to
generate heat. The hot air is diluted by cool air supplied by Quench Air Fan

(409).

The spray tower is working in counter-current way. The detergent particles fall
down from top where the spray jets are located, and hot air produced by Hot
Air Generator (407) comes into tower near the lower part of the tower. The
detergent particles are dried and formed into hollow beads with specified bulk
density and come out the tower on the Belt Conveyor at Tower Bottom (411).
The powder is transferred from here into the inlet of the Airlift Duct and carried
by air sucked in by an Air Lift Fan (414), moving upwards into Airlift Separator
(412) where the powder is separated from air and falls down onto a Vibrating
Sieve (415). The target powder is falling into Product Powder Silos (513
A/B/C/D) in Post-Blending Section.

The exhaust air is drawn out at the top of the tower by Exhaust Air Fan (406).
The air contains detergent fines will separated from the contained fines in the
Exhaust Air Cyclone Unit (405), and Exhaust Air Bag Filter (416) before it is
vented to atmosphere. The fines collected in the unit are discharged by gravity
to be recycled.

The air going out from the top of Airlift Separator (412), which contains
detergent fines, which are filtered out in Airlift Bag Filter (413) on top of the
separator, before it is vented to atmosphere.

B.2.5 Post Blending (Section 500)

In this section the base powder is mixed with heat sensitive solid and liquid
ingredients, e.g. perborate, CMC, non-ionic, perfume etc., so the product
detergent powder will meet the specified formulation.

The base powder from Vibrating Sieve (415) is stored in the Base Powder Bin
(501). From there the base powder is dosed by Base Powder Weighing Belt
(502). Perborate, from an Perborate Bin (503), is dosed by a separate
Perborate Weighing Belt (504). The base powder and perborate are then go
together by gravity into a Post Blending Rotary Mixer (509). The liquid
ingredients, e.g. nonionic, perfume are dosed by Nonionic Dosing Pump (506)
and Perfume Dosing Pump (508) respectively fed by respective kettles, are
sent into the same rotary mixer (509). The solid and liquid ingredients will be
mixed together in there. The mixed powder from here is transported by a
Distributing Belt (512) and fed to one of the Product Powder Silo (512A/B/C),
ready to feed to the packaging machines. That is three bagging machine and
one cartooning machine by others.

There is a dedusting system that sucks in dusty air to be filtered out, before
vent to the atmosphere.

B.7 Effluents

There are no liquid effluents emitted during normal plant operation.

Gaseous effluents emitted are the air from filters at different section, however,
the max. dust contents in these air streams are 100 mg/m3 max ( GB3548-
83).

B.8 Control System

The plant is controlled by conventional instruments.

The seller’s scope of supply includes the field instrumentation and the hardware

of the system.

B.9 Electric System

The electric system is composed of:

- Electric power distributing panel


- Electric motors
- Cables and accessories for electric power distribution

B.9.1 Electric Power distribution panel

It includes equipment for the control and protection of all electric users in the
Battery Limits.

The panel is of cabinet type, made from stiffened plates foreseen for easy
extension by movable shoulders.

The outdoor panel protection is IP41, while the indoor protection is IP20.

The panel also includes a 380/220V (or 380/110V upon the buyer’s request)
transformer for control and auxiliary circuits.

Lamps will be fed at 24 V A.C.

The panel includes:

- Selector switches for connecting or control and related signal lamps


- Remote control switches
- Thermal protection
- Power fuses and auxiliary fuses
- Star-delta starters for the motors with power over 22 kW and DOL starters
for other motors
- Main switch
- Voltmeter
- Ammeters
- Terminal boards for connection of electric cables
- Feeding of local control panels (if any)

The start/stop of motors can be made either through the electric power
distribution panel selector switches or through the working station of
supervisory system.

B.9.2 Cables

The electric power distribution cables will be multi-core type, insulation PVC
quality R2 Class 4 suitable for normal voltage up to 500 V A.C.

The cables will be installed inside cable trays for main runs and introduced in
conduits for connections from cable trays up to the users.

B.9.3 Accessories

Accessories mean all the materials for the installation connections of cables,
i.e. cable trays, conduits, and fittings.
