ABSTRACT

Blood bank management system is a web based system that can assist the
information of blood bag during its handling in the blood bank. With this
system, the user of this system can key in the result of blood test that has been
conducted to each of the blood bag received by the blood bank. Blood bank is a
center where blood gathered as a result of blood donation is stored and
preserved for later use in blood transfusion. The term "blood bank" typically
refers to a division of a hospital where the storage of blood product occurs and
where proper testing is performed (to reduce the risk of transfusion related
adverse events). However, it sometimes refers to a collection center, and indeed
some hospitals also perform collection. Whole blood or blood with RBC, is
transfused to patients with anaemia/iron deficiency. It also helps to improve the
oxygen saturation in blood. It can be stored at 1.0°C-6.0°C for 35-45 days.
Platelet transfusion, is transfused to those who suffer from low platelet count.
This can be stored at room temperature for 5-7 days. Plasma transfusion is
indicated to patients with liver failure, severe infections or serious burns. Fresh
frozen plasma can be stored at a very low temperature of -25°C for up to 12
months.

INTRODUCTION

The “Blood Bank Management system” has been developed to override the
problems prevailing in the practice manual system. This software is
supported to eliminate and in some cases reduce the hardships faced by the
existing system. Moreover this system is designed for the particular need of
the company to carry out operations in a smooth and effective manner.
The application is reduced as much as possible to avoid errors while entering
the data. It also provides error message while entering invalid data. No
formal knowledge is needed for the user to use this system. Thus by all it
proves it is user-friendly. Blood bank management system as described can
lead to error free, secure, reliable and fast management system. It can assist
the user to concentrate on their other activities rather to concentrate on the
record keeping. Thus it will help organization in better utilization of
resources.
Every organization, whether big or small, has challenges to overcome and
managing the information of blood, blood bank, blood cells, donor, blood
stock. Every blood bank management system has different blood bank needs,
therefore we design exclusive employee management systems that are
adapted to your managerial requirements. This is designed to assist in
strategic planning, and will help you ensure that your organisation is
equipped with the right level of information and details for your future goals.
Also for those busy executives who are always on the go, our systems come
with remote access features, which will allow you to manage your workforce
anytime, at all times. These systems will ultimately allow you to better
manage resources.
 PURPOSE

The main purpose of the project on blood bank management system is to

manage the details of blood bank, blood group, blood cells, blood stock. If
manages all the information about blood bank, donor, blood stocks. The
project is totally built at administrative end and thus only the administrator is
guaranteed the access. The purpose of the project is to build an application
program to reduce the manual work for managing the blood bank, blood,
donor, blood group, blood stocks.

 SCOPE

It may help collecting perfect management in details. In a very short time,

the collection will be obvious, simple and sensible. It will help a person to
know the management of passed year perfectly and vividly. It also helps in
current all works relative to blood bank management. It will be also reduce
the cost of collecting the management & collection procedure will go on
smoothly.

 PROBLEM STATEMENT
The old manual system was suffering from a series of drawbacks. Since
whole of the system was to be maintained with hands the process of keeping,
maintaining and retrieving the information was very tedious and lengthy.
The records were never used to be in a systematic order. There used to be
lots of difficulties in associating any particular transaction with a particular
context. If any information was to be found it was required to go through the
different registers, documents there would never exist anything like report
generation. There would always be unnecessary consumption of time while
entering records and retrieving records. One more problem was that it was
very difficult to find errors while entering the records. Once the records were
entered it was very difficult to update these records.
 PROBLEM SOLUTION

Documents and reports that must be provided by the new system: there can
also be few reports, which can help management in decision-making and
cost controlling, but since these reports do not get required attention, such
kind of reports and information were also identified and given required
attention.

6. CONCLUSION

Our project is only a humble venture to satisfy the needs to manage their
project work. Several user friendly coding have also adopted. This package
shall prove to be a powerful package in satisfying all the requirements of the
school. The objective of software planning is to provide a frame work that
enables the manager to make reasonable estimates made within a limited time
frame at the beginning of the software project and should be updated as the
project progresses.

7. FUTURE SCOPE

More advanced software can be added to the blood bank management systems
including more facilities.
We will host the platform on online servers to make it accessible worldwide.
Integrate multiple loads balancers to distribute the loads of the system.
Create the master and slave database structure to reduce the overload of the
database queries.
Implement the backup mechanism for taking backup of codebase and database
on regular basis on different servers.
