SONG ANALYSIS TAPON, TAPON NYO BASURA NYO

The Philippines is drowning in garbage, much of it of its own making. It's not a

new problem. The country is a major contributor to plastic pollution in the ocean, the world's
third-worst offender. While some of that plastic may be swept away to become a more
generically global problem, most of it stays close to home. Improper wastes disposal,
inefficient wastes collection and lack of disposal facilities are among the dominant concerns in
the country's solid waste management. Just like in the lyrics of the song “Tapon, tapon nyo
basura nyo” it is really true that our wastes are not segregated properly. We Pino’s just develop
this habit to throw their garbage where ever they wanted.

I am just lucky because I am situated in an urban area (Barangay Alimono, Passi City
Iloilo) where our waste management is not that terrible like as what we can see in Manila
squatter’s area. Some how here in Iloilo our Mayor is doing all his best to maintain the
cleanliness of our city but we cannot cover the fact that our rivers and drainage canals shouts
dirtiness because of its foul odor and black water appearance. Although our Mayor is doing his
very best to address the problem regarding waste management but there are still many people
who is hard headed, they throw their garbage everywhere and also because of poor living
people who are situated in squatter areas they don’t have comfort rooms so they tend to poop
on the rivers or canals.

Our environment gives us home, food, and everything and it does also need our care.
Mother earth is getting old and we experience many disasters where the fact is, we are also the
reasons in this calamity that we are experiencing. Its not yet too late, be mindful, be
responsible.
