WHAT IS POPULATION EXPLOSION BY ROTEM

• snipped "In terms of the large annual increases in aggregate world population identifiable from
the 1950s onward, the population explosion is still with us, though numbers added per year
have fallen from a peak of 86 million in the late 1980s to an estimated 77 million today, while
the annual rate of world population growth has fallen from 2.1% in the mid-1960s to only
1.25%

WHAT IS • Population explosion refers to the rapid and
dramatic rise in world population that has
POPULATION occurred over the last few hundred years. Between
1959 and 2000, the world’s population increased
EXPLOSION from 2.5 billion to 6.1 billion people. According
to United Nations projections, the world
population will be between 7.9 billion and 10.9
billion by 2050.
WHAT IS
OVERPOPULATION

• Overpopulation refers to a
population which exceeds its
sustainable size within a
particular environment or
habitat. Overpopulation results
from an increased birth rate,
decreased death rate, the
immigration to a new
ecological niche with fewer
predators, or the sudden
decline in available resources.
HOW TO PREVENT POPULATION EXPLOSION
• 1. Family Planning Measures

• Family planning is an important device for controlling the

population explosion. Family planning means “Limiting the
size of the family by conscious efforts”. The motto of
family planning is “Child by choice, and not by
chance” family planning is an instrument of social
transformation.
• Family planning methods can be adopted in 2 ways. They are

(a) Birth control ie by use of contraceptives and safe abortion

(b) moral control ie raising age of marrige and self restrain
WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
POPULATION EXPLOSION AN
OVERPOPULATION
• Overpopulation or overabundance occurs when a
species' population becomes so excessive that people deem it
must be managed. It can result from an increase in births
(fertility rate), a decline in the mortality rate, an increase
in immigration, or a depletion of resources. When
overpopulation occurs the available resources become too
limited for the entire population to survive comfortably or at
all in long term. Whereas population explosion refers toThe
term population explosion is the name which has been given
to the fact that mankind keeps growing fast. It´s now 7
billions, and the resources to feed and supply them all don´t
grow as fast as the population does, the resources are in fact
limited.
