Probability
1. Describes the meaning of probability such as 50% chance of rain and one in a
million chance of winning. (M6SP-IVg-19)
2. Performs experiments and records outcomes. (M6SP-IVh-21)

PROBABILITY
Example 2: There are 1 yellow, 2 blue, and 2 green cubes in a box. Without
looking, what is the likelihood of picking a yellow cube out of the box?
Y – Yellow
Y B G B – Blue
G G - Green
B
Example 3: Look at the spinner at the right. Write and describe the probability of
landing on:
a. 1 b. 3 or 5
c. even number d. 7
Solutions:
The spinner can land on 6 different regions numbered 1 to 6.
1
a. The chance of landing on 1 is 1 out of 6 or or 16.67%, so it is more
6
unlikely to happen that the spinner will land on 1.
b. For the spinner to land on either 3 or 5 is unlikely to happen. The chance
1
is 2 out of 6 or 3 or 33.33%.
c. There are three even numbers (2, 4, 6) on the spinner. The probability
3 1
of landing on one of these numbers is or 2 or 50%. Therefore, we can
6
describe the probability as equally likely or as likely as unlikely.
d. It is impossible for the spinner to land on 7 because there is no 7 on the
spinner. Therefore, the probability of this event to happen is 0.
Example 4: Look at the menu below. How many ways can you order snacks?
SNACKS BEVERAGES
• Miki • Buko Juice
• Empanada • Pineapple Juice
• Lumpianada

Activity 4: Survey Me!
For this task, survey 15 persons in your neighborhood and ask them which item they
would most likely to buy from the store. Give them five choices: egg, bath soap,
sardines in can, noodles, and biscuit. Present your data in the given table below.
