PREFACE
This book "IDEAL MAT" has been designed strictly based on the revised syllabus of
MBBS, BDS, B.Sc., Nursing entrance examination. This book is really hidden teasure for
those hard working and passionate students, who plan to appear in a competitive
examination.
How to solve a question is not significant in such examinations. The most important
aspect is to solve a question in a fraction of minute using shortcut methods.
I express my deep appreciation to Mrs. Kritana Rijal (Nirvana Publication), Dr. Nabin
Sharma (NAME) and Mr. Madhav Pandey (CEDEP) and Dr. Krishna Raj Adhikari for their
valuable suggestions.

24. C
In eachh step, the symbols move in the sequence and the symbol that
reaches the encircled position gets replaced by a new one.
25. E In one step,
s the two elements interchange positions and the smaller

enlargedd while the larger element gets reduced in size. Inn the next step, the
smaller element is replaced by a new small element and thhe larger element is
replacedd by a new large element.
26. D
The sym
mbols move in the sequences and alternnately. In each step,
the sym
mbol that reaches the-encircled position gets replaced by
b a new symbol.
27. A
The sym mbols move in the sequence in the first step. In each subsequent
step, thhe symbols move in the sequence obtained by rottating the previous
sequencce through 90ºCW. Also, in each step, the symbool that reaches the
encircleed position gets replaced by a new one.
28. D The figuure gets laterally inverted and vertically inverted alternnately.
29. D In one step,
s a half-leaf is added to the figure at the ACW-ennd. In the next step,
two half-leaves are added to the figure - one at the ACW-endd and the other at the
CW-endd. Also, in each step, the figure rotates 45ºACW.
30. C Similar figure repeats in every third step and each time a figuure reappears it gets
vertically inverted.
31. B In one step, a black circle is added to the figure at the CW-end of the existing
circles and
a a line segment is added on the upper side. In thee next step, a white
circle iss added to the figure at the ACW-end of the existinng circles and a line
segmennt is added on the lower side.
32. E The num mber of 'L' shaped elements in the upper part of the figure increases by
one in every second step. Also, in each step, the existing 'L' ' shaped elements
rotate 90oCW;
9 the lower two elements interchange positions and the element
that reacches the lower left corner, gets replaced by a new one..

the numbers of sides of the elements either increase or decrease in a sequence.
14. A All other figures can be rotated into each other.
15. C Only in fig. (3), the line segment is not a diameter of the circle.
16. D Figure (4) has a rectangle in place of a '+' sign.
17. C All other figures can be rotated into each other.
18. C In each one of the figures except fig. (3), the two crosses (x) appear in the
diagonally opposite corners.
19. D Figure (4) is formed by four line segments while each one of the other figures
is formed by three line segments.

HINTS AND SOLUTIONS
Question No. Answer Explanation
Sheet
1. D The third figure in each row comprises of parts which are not common to the
first two figures.
2. B In each row, the second figure is obtained from the first figure by adding two
mutually perpendicular line segments at the centre and the third figure is
obtained from the first figure by adding four circles outside the main figure.
3. A In each row, the third figure comprises of a black circle and only those line
segments which are not common to the first and the second figures.
4. C In each column, the second figure (middle figure) is obtained by removing the
upper part of the first figure (uppermost figure) and the third figure
(lowermost figure) is obtained by vertically inverting the upper part of the
first figure.
