What I Need to Know:


A. Introduction
In this lesson we will be discussing about the
difference between common and proper noun. Last
discussion we were able to use nouns in simple
sentences.

For today’s lesson we will differentiate common


from proper noun.

What’s new:

Direction: Give a specific brand for the following


materials:
1. pencil
2. ballpen
3. shoes
4. soap
5. shampoo

What is it:
Last topic that we had was all about noun, today we
will be more specific. The words listed in column A
are called common nouns.
A common noun is the generic name for a person,
place, or thing in a class or group. Unlike
proper nouns, a common noun is not capitalized
unless it either begins a sentence or appears in a
title.
A proper noun is a name used for an individual
person, place, or organization, spelled with initial
capital letters.
