The Identification of Traced Signatures using Carbon Paper

Objectives:

1. To determine a traced signature.

Material:

1. Carbon paper
2. Bond paper
3. Ballpen

Procedures:

1. Find 5 signatures from 5 persons and paste it on the collected specimen template.
2. Request someone to trace the 5 signatures using the carbon paper on the requested specimen
template.
3. Conduct examination by comparing the characteristics of specimen applying the Slant, Alignment,
Proportion, Size, Space and Speed technique. (review our previous modules)

OBSERVATIONS:

SLANT:

The genuine signature has an angle of the axis of letters relative to the baseline hike the trace signature in which the axis
of letters adopted, you notice that it is duplicated because some are points of hesitation and sudden abrupt turns or jogs
typically contains a uniformly heavy stroke that of natural slant.

ALIGNMENT:

The alignment of the signatures both the genuine and the trace are bad. Some signatures are going upward and some
are going downward.

PROPORTION:

Individual characteristics in letters or proportion of a part a letter or relative height of one letter o another letter can be
found in the given example signatures above. As you can see that there are differences and similarities between each
letters.

SIZE:

The relative sizes of letters and words become almost fixed with the passage of time. The length, breadth and size of the
signatures was not perfectly duplicated because of some boldness and thickness of the pen.

SPEED:

The speed of the trace signature from the genuine signatures is that the genuine is faster than the trace because the
trace signature experience pen-pause in which the one who trace it find it difficult to execute the signature.

SPACE:

The space from each letter is near the same but the space consisting of simple writing impression which is usually filled
with uncertain movement.
