SOCIAL PYRAMID: aided with a power point presentation.
Show the picture below and let the learners answer the following questions:
1.What is the message of the picture?
2. Imagine that you belong to the lower class; how does it impact your behavior or
attitude as a learner?
3. In what class do you belong? Do you have the capability to change your social
class? How?
PROBLEM TREE: The teacher will ask the learners to illustrate the impact of social
stratification using a problem tree.
The teacher will expect that the following will be illustrated by the learners; like social
discrimination, unequal distribution of resources, it creates emotional stress and
depression to the people belonging to a lower class, abuse of authority/power.
Note: Teacher will synthesis learners’ ideas into the concept of “SOCIAL
INEQUALITIES” as a result of social stratification.
The teacher will show a video about the concepts of the following sociological
perspectives: (Note: the video and a soft copy of powerpoint presentation of
the lesson will be sent to the learners via messenger, while printed copy of
powerpoint presentation will be sent to learners who can not avail of net
connection).

The teacher will group the learners into three and each group has a
learning task to do: (note: each task shall be evaluated using a rubrics)
GROUP 1 (DATA ANALYSIS): Using the functionalist perspective theory, let
the learners analyze the data and ask them to give at least 3 solutions on
how should our social institutions work together to address concerns on
the lower class. (data will be flashed on the screen for the learners to
analyze).
GROUP 2 (SHORT POEM ON HOW TO SOLVE SOCIAL ISSUES): Using the
conflict perspective theory, construct a short poem on how to solve Social
Inequalities in the society because of Social stratification system.
GROUP 3: (PIE CHART TASK): Using the symbolic interactionist theory,
make a pie Chart that may display a data of cooperation and unity of social
classes in facing corona virus/this pandemic time.
Let the learners answer the following:
1. As a Senior High school learner, what is your role in your community to
establish a harmonious relationship with the different institutions in addressing
social inequalities issues?
2. What should you do now to maintain a peaceful and productive community

H. Making generalizations Social stratification is a hierarchical ranking of individuals based on their family,
and abstractions about the occupation, income, wealth and (social political) power. It is a characteristic of a
lesson society which persists over generations. For sociologist, it is the pattered inequality in
society that is due to the unequal access to wealth, privileges, and power that may
cause social inequalities among the individuals. But societies allow individuals/group
of people to change their social status/social class through the principle of social
mobility in which people have an equal opportunity to end up at the top of
stratification system, that anyone can reach the apex or peak of the hierarchy
through his own abilities or capabilities.
