H. Making generalizations Social stratification is a hierarchical ranking of individuals based on their family,
and abstractions about the occupation, income, wealth and (social political) power. It is a characteristic of a
lesson society which persists over generations. For sociologist, it is the pattered inequality in
society that is due to the unequal access to wealth, privileges, and power that may
cause social inequalities among the individuals. But societies allow individuals/group
of people to change their social status/social class through the principle of social
mobility in which people have an equal opportunity to end up at the top of
stratification system, that anyone can reach the apex or peak of the hierarchy
through his own abilities or capabilities.
