Factors affecting comfort air conditioning:

1. Temperature : Heat transfer depends upon the temperature difference. So an adequate

difference between body temperature and ambient temperature would ensure the heat
transfer. Greater activity by rubbing your hand would generate some energy for the heat
dissipation and makes you feel better during winter. So preferred temperature are in
between 20- 25 Degree.

2. Humidity : humidity affects the comfort air condition mostly. If the humidity is less the
air is too dry and it creates dry skin and skin may crack. If humidity is too high then
evaporation of water is less from body and it will create discomfort. So for proper comfort
the humidity should be maintain properly [40-60%]

3. Air Movement : heat transfer depends upon air movement and evaporation rate also can
be maintained by constantly carrying away the vapour from evaporation surface. So it
would be helpful for giving comfort and heat dissipation takes place properly . If the air
movement is high it would cause the noise discomfort. Similarly we maintained higher air
movement of fan in summer and slow air movement in winter for better comfort .The
limited air velocity ranging in between 8–15 m/min.

4. Air Purity : Since air conditioner supplies conditioning air for comfort. Atmospheric air
has many impurities in it .The impurities like dust, other carbon particles etc are present in
air. At some point odorous gases also makes you feel discomfort. so air conditioner needs
to be remove unwanted impurities and gases.

Equipment used in air condition system

A] Fan: used to circulate the cold air to the room and hot air to the atmosphere

B] Air condition: used to cool the air and dehumidify it

C] Filters: to clean the air

D] Supply duct and outlet: supply duct used to carry the cool air and outlets are
the grills and opening through which air enters the room

E] Return duct and outlets: used to suck the air from room and pass through the
return duct

Air Condition Types

According to season:

A] SUMMERA/C

B] WINTER A/C

C] YEAR ROUND AC

According to size or arrangement of equipment:

A] unit A/C

B] Central A/C

According to usage

A] Industrial A/C

B] Comfort A/C

A] SUMMERA/C

 The summer air conditioning system is used to provide the cool and
dehumidified air during summer season

 It has following main components
1. Fan
2. damper
3. filter
4. cooling coil
5. sump
6. perforated membrane
7. heating coil
 First the air comes through the damper and mixed with the recirculate air and moves
through the filter where all the impurities are removed.
 Then it is moves to the cooling coil and cool there upto certain temperature values.
 Now it passes through the perforated membrane where the water particles are
removed and separated from air and stick to the membrane. These particles are then
collected in the sump provided at the bottom
 Then passes through the heating coil where it is heated to the required value of
temperature.
 Now it is supplied to the room by a fan.
 Some portion of air ventilated from room to keep the room ambient fresh.

 The winter air conditioning system is used to provide the hot and
humidified air during winter season
 It has following main components
1. Fan
2. damper
3. filter
4. pre heater
5. Humidifier
6. reheating coil

 First the air comes through the damper and mixed with the recirculate air
and moves through the filter where all the impurities are removed.
 Then it is moves to the preheater and heat there upto certain temperature
values.
 Now it passes through the Humidifier where the water particles are added
and humidification is done.
 Then passes through the reheating coil where it is heated to the required
value of temperature.
 Now it is supplied to the room by a fan.
 Some portion of air ventilated from room to keep the room ambient fresh.
