Reflection on my knowledge, skills and teaching strategies

to develop the learners’ critical, creative, and other higher-order thinking skills.

KNOWLEDGE

As a proficient teacher, I KNOW that each learner is unique...each

one having his/her own learning style. characteristics, and needs. I
am also well aware of the different types of intelligences which could
help me classify the learners, thus helping me find ways on how I
could teach them more effectively,

SKILLS

As a proficient teacher, I DESIGN my lessons in ways that could cater

to almost (if not all) all types of learners. This will ensure that every
learner has equal opportunities to participate in classroom activities.

ATTITUDES

As a proficient teacher, I FEEL that the learners are more productive

when they are given tasks that are relevant to their daily living or to
activities they could relate to. Activities that would foster critical,
creative and higher order thinking skills

INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES

In what way(s) do the teachers’ practice differ?

Teacher A asks questions and gave evaluation that would allow the learners to
recall or remember what was discussed. Whereas Teacher B imposed questions that
required the leaner to think deeper than what they can remember. The questions
required the learners to analyze certain situations and apply what they already know.
Which teacher practice is more engaging for the learners? Why?
Teacher B’s practice was more engaging to the learners because of the type of
questions she asked. The questions asked allowed the students to analyze a certain
situation, thus allowing the use of their critical, creative, and higher order thinking
skills.

Which teacher practice will create more meaningful learning experience for the
learners? Why?

Teacher B will create a more meaningful learning experience because the

questions the learners were supposed to answer requires them to tap into their critical
and creative thinking skills. She engages her learners in problem-based activities. The
learners were encouraged to experiment, allowing them to test their hypothesis and
then comminicate their findings. Also, the application of what was learned was
reinforced trhough the enrichment activity given.

Which teacher practice demonstrates a strategy to develop critical thinking?

Teacher B’s practice of guided inquiry in instruction develops critical thinking in

learners. Learners conducting experiments also probes the learners to use their higher
order thinking skills through the formulation of the hypothesis down to the finding out
the conclusion. Visualization strategy was also used by Teacher B.
