QUESTION 1

In a gas turbine, an ideal gas at a temperature of 400 0C is allowed to expand from an

initial pressure of 600kPa to 120kPa. Assuming isentropic expansion, determine the
temperature of the gas after expansion. Assume a suitable specific heat ratio

QUESTION 2

MIG-25 fighter aircraft can reach a top speed of 3,494 km/h. If it is set to travel in a dry
and cold Siberian region in which the ambient temperature drops to - 25 0C, determine
the Mach number of the fighter plane. Make suitable assumptions.

QUESTION 3

Atmospheric air enters in to a high speed compressor at 100kPa pressure and 27 0C.
The stagnation temperature measured at the leading edge of the compressor blades is
100 0C. Determine the stagnation pressure at the leading edge of the compressor
blade. Assume the specific heat ratio as 1.4.
