2. a) A sinusoidal voltage, V(t) = 50 sin 100t is applied to a series RLC circuit with L = 100 mH, [10]

i) What is the impedance of the circuit?
ii) Let the current at any instant in the circuit be I(t) = I0 sin wt. Find I0.
iii) Find the Phase Angle between the current and the Voltage.

b) Explain the Principle of operation of a 3-phase Induction Motor. [8]

6. a) Using the Norton’s theorem, find the value of R that results in maximum power transfer to [10]
the 6.2 Ohm resistor. Find the Maximum power dissipated by the 6.2 Ohm Resistor under
that situation.
